The police are having a big clampdown round by us on unlicensed, uninsured bikes.
You know the sort of thing i mean, young lads on field bikes, mini motos and what have you tearing up and down the streets, no insurance, no licence, no mot sometimes no helmet or protective gear at all.
It's time IMHO that these bikes were taken off the road and confiscated.
Don't get me wrong i'm not trying to be some sort of killjoy here, but if just one of these people have an accident and prang someones car or hit someone then suddenly we're all tarred with the same brush, and no biker is to be trusted.

I used to tear around on scruffy old rubbish bikes on and off road as a kid. When I say on-road I mean kind of from the by-ways up the back streets to home.
It's only looking back I see how stupid and anti-social it was, just seemed fun and cool back then. And all the bikes were nicked. Not by us, but that's a distinction that only seemed relevant at the time.
Any clampdown on uninsured vehicles gets my approval, these days.

Some of the prats riding illegally amaze me. I was working in Milford Haven two weeks ago when I saw GSX-R 750 parked up outside someones house. The bike had been given the streetfighter treatment, complete with an artistic paint job so it couldn't fail to catch the eye. What also stood out was the prominantly displayed tax disc, showing not only a date which expired in 03, but the word "SAMPLE" printed across it in big letters.
Talk about asking for it, though I suppose the rider was one of these lucky sods who get away with everything. I wouldn't last five minutes before some copper spotted it.

I sometimes reckon that if you break one rule or law you are asking to get caught and done, break a whole bundle and they seem to cower away in fear, for some reason.

Latest craze is minimotos round here. They ride them up and down the maze of footpaths that connect each estate. Even had four of them racing round my road part of which goes round in a circle.
