Jack Up Kit Auction

I am thinking about having a Hagon shock fitted to the Bandy (btw, BD, my local mechanical chap quotes a grand price of £25 - 40 to fit it eyebrow.gif ) but, at somewhat over £200 I am having some problem getting it on the list ahead of the tiles for the bathroom so that we can use the shower devil1.gif

However, in the meantime after 18,000 miles I guess the bike could do with "stiffening up"... as could I come to think of it blush21.gif and wondered whether these "kack up kits" are worthwhile as a temporary solution?

Thoughts gentlepeeps?

I've never sen those before, I suppose the just lift the rear end a bit. If I am correct, they won't make the spring any stiffer, I would imagine, that it just like turning your preload right up because you aren't actually doing anything to the spring to change its properties.

Somebody with more technical know how would probably be able to help on this one.

Yep, between you and me would be like the blind leading the blind methinks Davie old chap (not in a gay way, that, either :p ) as I can't see what they do?!

I am sure that their only effect is to lift the back of the bike up... but that doesn't achieve any more than standing up as you go into a corner I'd guess sad1.gif

Where's the knowitalls (you know who you are bowdown.gif ) when you need 'em!

They lift the back end but leave the shock doing exactly what it was before.  So if its soggy itll still be soggy but the bike will be higher at the back.
Overall bike geometry will change and have more front bias with regard to weight.  Steering should be quicker but rear will be lighter so easier to slide/lock up.

Load of bollox mate and i wouldnt bother if I were you.  Put up with your current shock til you can get another one.

What Zombie said,
load of bollox made for Power Rangers.
If you jack up the back then all you're doing is altering the steering geometry-this will make the bike steer quicker, & make the back end more likely to hop under breaking.
Also , have you considered what a nice shiney new rear shock will do to the pathetic spongy front end?
budget another £55 for Performance Suspension front springs & get them fitted when your man does the rear-you wont regret it.

Having ridden all manner of bikes in my day in all manner of condition i have to totally agree with the DP.  People spend three hundred notes or more on loud pipes when a fork overhaul and a new rear shock would be so much more beneficial.

As a side issue, have you checked out the description in the ebay item?  Would anyone believe it if that's the best that can be done to sell it?

Thanks knowitalls ( laughcont.gif )... that's made me mind up then. Can't run to an Ohlins   but can about afford a Hagon I think...

Oi, you talking 'bout me blush21.gif

Well, finally worked it out that the bike will ride much better if it's a/ a little quieter and b/ the suspension was working correctly blush21.gif Can't afford (yet) the front suspension replacement kit but am having a different oil put in at the next service... then the rear shock changed... then, if wife permits, the front end done.

That should fix it... oh, bugger... it'll still be a Bandit laughcont.gif

For good info on Bandits look here or go to most of your local bike shops, they seem to be full of bandits... rolleyes.gif
