My old virago xv535, after being used all winter, and my slack maintenance has developed several holes in the collector box of the exhaust. While i reckon the bike now sounds great, it ain't gonna get though the next MOT. Welding is an option, but there isn't much to weld to, and would only be a short term solution.

A mate suggested we just cut the collector box off, and weld a bit of piping, but ii reckon i would have problems with a lack of back pressure. Will this get though an MOT?

So other than buying a whole new exhaust system, what are my options? Are there any aftermarket goodies which will do away with the collector box?

Any help greatly appreciated fcrossed.gif

A collector box or ballance tubes are needed to have the bike running properly, however providing that the cans are legal and the system is sealed, then there should be no problem with the MOT. Back pressure is not an issue with 4 strokes.
