That's where I bought the ZF-7.

Although I'm not over the moon about the lid, the blokes are first class to deal with. Always very helpful and offer good advice.  :buttrock:

Talking of Mr Gericke - my local shop nearest to Aberdeen is in Glasgow.   Went in to try a Highwayman jacket.  Good fit.  When next there, discovered that the Highwayman was no longer in production.      :buttrock:

"No problem, sir!  We'll ring round our other stores."

Three days later my new HG Highwayman arrived at my door.  It's a treat and sweet!  :swivel:    So the Glasgow Hein Gericke store on Great Western Road (fairly near Aberdeen! - NOT!) gets my vote!

Going back to look at one piece suits!

I'd FULLY agree about their "helpfulness".

They have one or two new guyzz in there who are a bit "wet behind the ears" - BUT
they are most obliging - and if they don't know -
they seek help!

So, Scotsbikers,

promote Mr Gericke on Glasgow's Great Western Road.

TIme for my first post:

I have to say nig thumbs up to Hien Gericke.  Long story short; I race Minimoto's and had all my kit nicked, the nice man from Hien Gericke Norwich stepped in with a sponsorship deal that saved my arris and means that I'm racing again.

Welcome Skin, now that sounds very decent of the chap. Its stuff like that, that we like to hear.

Let us pray that the thief has his testicles besieged by the flies from a thousand camel's arriss. For he deserves no better.

Is Edinburgh not a little nearer to Aberdeen?

Anyway, local Edinburgh shop is okay but I can't say the same for the mail order.  I ordered three items, received two and no word on the other.  Left it a week and still nothing so sent an e-mail equiring where it was. Another week later they reply saying sorry out of stock would you like us to let you know when they come back in stock.  My response, why the feck didn't you put that on the invoice when you sent the other items and maybe the answer would have been yes but now I'm going elsewhere.

sniffle.gif   Sorry to hear about your difficulty with the Edinburgh branch.   (Nope, not really ALL that much closer to Aberdeen than the Glasgow one!).  Young Pete (Glasgow Branch) has gone off round the world - unfortunately he went to China first - but I think got scared off by the SARS virus.       I certainly couldn't fault the Glasgow Branch in any way, whatever.

PS.  It's good that the Forum is up and running again.  I missed collecting my helmets!

Are you sure about that?

That's F J R as in FJR1300 (the only bike that others were drooling over on a recent SB run bum.gif) who said anything about VJRs whatever they may be?

Hats off to mr gericke, saved my bacon at the weekend after i booted half my split link down a drain.

sorry to burst the bubble gents!
i bought my first set of leathers from newcastle branch.
within a week the zip on the left leg broke. took them back and they sorted it out for me!
within another week the stiching on the inside of the jacket started coming away, took them back and again they sorted it out fot me.
went to put them on again yesterday and the zip has broke again(luckily only snapped off at the handle), unfortunatley im well over my warrantly period now!
ive hardly worn the damn things, theyre not even broke in yet.
another thing which is annoying the hell outa me, which has me close to kicking the damn things all over the house is, when trying to put them on - the pads on the inside arnt held in place very well, i put a leg in and the damn thing will move and fold over itself inside its pocket.
so off they come again!
now for the other leg - repeat the process!
now for the arms - repeat the process!
by the time i get them on, im cursing, sweating and in the wrong frame of mind to go out on me F***ing,S**T,PILE OF CRAP F****NG, HEAP OF JUNK. dodging F****NG WOMEN DRIVERS, OWLD B****RDS, TW****NG RED LIGHTS, F****NG POT HOLES, WIND and i gaurantee by the time ive got them on - F****NG RAIN , T**T, P****NG IT DOWN, ive come out to enjoy mesel for F**KS SAKE.
i cant knock their prices or their after sales service, maybe ive just got a one off bad set and it would be unfair to judge on that alone, but its enough to have me looking elsewhere for clothing in the future.
p.s. i know its sunday morning, but had to have my 2 pence worth.
p.p.s. ive nowt against women drivers or old folk, only the ones who are out when ive just put me leathers on!

I have used the Slough HG for all of my kit so far.... always very helpful, willing to explain the simple stuff to the uniniated...(me).... and not too pushy when it comes to selling.

The Bristol branch of HG get my thumbs up too, i brought a pair of thier boots about a year ago, still going well, still warm and waterproof. The staff are friendly and have even drank with a couple of them, nice to see a bike shop with staff you see out on bikes in thier social time mixing with the naitives.

My only grumble is that they have recently scaled down on thier custom accesories, they used to have some prety trick bits for custom bikes at resonable prices, unlike Mr Highway Hawk.. £75 for a set of mirrors... Get out of my pocket please sir eyebrow.gif

Norwich is still alive and kicking.

The guys on Ber Street ordered me a jacket I wanted and scoured the UK to find the right size/colour. Took just a few days to track one down and get it to the shop. Couldn't have been more helpful.

Does he still work there?

Normally go the HG in Glasgow but have had a bad experience with them this week, it's not the manager fault it's the plantpot's he employs.

I bought a 'Tricky Leather' Jacket a couple of months ago, the zip went on it the other day. Apparently the deal is they send it away for repair so I told the guy on the phone I would take it in on Wednesday, arrives at the shop to find a notice saying sorry we are stocktaking (toys oot the pram dummy well and truly spat out) knocked the door, guy comes to door or should I say his zits appeared first, laughs when I repeat my phone call of day before. Had wife and Daughter No1 with me so decided not to burst his zits for him. Will now take the jacket to Edinburgh for repair.

It was HG's loss as I went to J+S in Hamilton and spent £298 on Leathers for my wife.

BTW, does anyone else think it is a con, you spend just over £200 on a Leather jacket, the zip bursts after a couple of months and they want to repair it? It will go again, it is a weak point on the jacket, my own fault I suppose for not spotting it before I bought it.

Anyroad thumbs now down for HG in Glasgow.

And as I need to get the train into Edinburgh, it looks like J+S will be my spot for kit from now on.

I've got a Tricky jacket and my zips gone as well! When I phoned up they told me they've got a 2 year guarantee and if I took it in for repair they either repair it or replace it. Guess who couldn't find the receipt veryangry.gif HG can't do anything without it but the manager told me of a local tailors who could fix it.
The tailor told me the zip wasn't much cop and he'd replace it with a stronger one.
It cost me £30 for the repair, bugger!

Bought the other half two piece leathers from Maidstone the zip in the troons went... Even though they had the same size on the rack they didn't fit as well ( no surprises there then Oo1.gif ) so we went to Bexley swopped them no probs...

That is the good news bad news is the zip went again about a year or so later had it repaired independantly ok so far.

I know zips might be viewed as the weak point but I think they should be V bl**dy strong otherwise what is the piont of fitting them to bike kit.

We want heavy duty zips, top quality, the stuff fitted to me new leathers is chunky to say the least, but I suppose that adds to the cost sniffle.gif

Checked with yesterday you can and it is what I use, I never keep receipts, force of habit. But have all my statements online ready to print off.

BTW, phoned their Head Office yesterday to complain about Glasgow Branch and the zip, asked if it was a common problem, they told me no, sorry but two folk on the same site, same problem, they are getting both barrels in the morning.

He doesn't work there anymore.

BTW, the manager of the Glasgow branch was also the manager of the Edinburgh branch.
Edinburgh responsibility was taken away from him.
Rumour from good source is that, upon been given this news, he turned up with a van and done a little personal stocktaking of his own.

My Tricky 2-piece, now over a year old, has been perfect, fingers crossed.

I used to ride with a few of the guys in J&S. Next time, make mention of a big 'ol ZX-7R with an exhaust held together with tape, being banged off the limiter. Lovely.
Peter1474
Might just be me but I was not impressed by HG in Edinburgh, two young guys and a young girl, took me all my time to get their attention and it isn't the largest of shops. My wife wanted to try some Helmets, yeah just go ahead, despite a notice asking you to ask for assistance wuth helmets.

HG, mail order from now on.

Don't know if it is the same across the country but If you show your bike safe cirtificate at Maidstone Hien Gerike you get 10% off beer.gif no time limit no restrictions already saved 4 quid.

I've been in the HG stores at Kenton/Harrow and Ilford/Gant's Hill. Always helpful, sometimes quiet (but then I preferred not to be pestered so that's great). Often they are busy with their own or other's bikes, but then I think you have to expect (bit perhaps not like) that.

I have to admit, I am a walking advert for HG in my leathers. Its good quality and doesn't cost the earth - perfect for "first time", backups, spares etc. Find out what you like and don't waste too much doing it, without getting saddled with cheap kit. And some of their kit is top quality - especially the textiles and touring gear.

You just have to look at their PSX and celtic leathers to see that, although low cost, they do a fine job.

As a n00b they have yet to lead me astray or rip me off. Got a perfect fit for a racey leather jacket, even tried to sell me cheaper summer pants instead of the expensive ones.
