When I bought my Volvo 740 I took it to the mechanic the previous owner recommended. This guy had been servicing it annually for 10 years.
This turned out to be a really bad idea.
I asked the mechanic about a warning light that was on and asked why it guzzled so much fuel.He told me some old bollocks about the fuel consumption and then told me the light was on due to a design fault and that the car was fine.
God I'm stupid sometimes.
I poodled off home happy that I'd bought a good car.
My car has a self diagnostic unit under the bonnet and when I discovered this I found out it had loads of faults which I decided to fix. This is what I replaced:
Catalytic converter £100
Front pipe £ 50
Air mass meter £200
Oxygen sensor £ 60
Fuel injectors £140
And finally the Electronic Control Unit. The Volvo part was £500.... but I found a place on the net called Blue Hawk Electronics that tested and repaired mine for £91 including delivery. I fitted the unit back on my car and it transformed it, the car purrs now and the warning light I was worried about is out now.
This post is just to recommend Blue Hawk Electronics they've a website which is http://www.bluehawkelectronics.co.uk I sent him the unit on Monday, he called me Tuesday to say it was faulty and that it would be repaired and sent out that day, I received it today working fine. When I asked the guy about payment he told me to send him the money after I'd fitted it to the car and was happy that it worked, pretty good service!
I don't know if he does bikes but make a note of the name it could save you loads of money.
