Hi all, great site and I have been floating about reading posts for ages.
Finally got something worth posting about because I got my arris in gear and have booked a DAS course for the middle of october.
Complete novice but you have to start from somewhere.....
Stuck in Ireland at the moment because the wife won't move back to scotland and was going to trade in my uk license for a paddy one but decided not to.
Therefore, it is back to scotland for a week to do the intensive bike course. I said to the wife that it wouldn't be enjoyable, I wouldn't be able to have a pint from one weekend to the next and I couldn't go out with the lads because I would have to study hard..... Having said that, I passed my theory last month....
Though you peeps would like to know that if you have a UK license and get caught doing speeding or such over here, there is only a fine and no points on the license. Not that I intend to do any such traffice violations but there you go.

Liked the advice topics and hope to post a bit more.

Welcome elcabron, are you in the south.. I remember talk about the insurance for bikes being high in Ireland but I can't remember if it was North or South. Good biking country anyway. buttrock.gif

I am in what you could term as "mexico", in other words - south of the border.

There are only two companies who insure bikes in the entire republic and it is certainly a bit steep....... The cost of bikes is silly as well.

Not going to put me off, nope. With all the mad traffic conjestion it makes sense to ditch the car and go biking.

Dont forget he is reffering to Irish traffic jams, not english traffic jams.

Irish traffic jams means a tractor or two on a five mile stretch around 9pm on a
sunday, seen it done it.
