We were talking bikes again as is usual when the wrinklies get to gether and one said you now have to show that you can put your bike on the main stand as part of the m/c test?

I said I didn't think so as some bike do not have main or centre stands fitted and that would not be fair all round.

So does any one have the correct answer please..

Apparently they sometimes ask the blokes but rarely the women.

I didnt have to do it in my test bout 18months ago, but things might have changed since then.

Had to do it in the CBT though but that was only a 125 and a lot easier.

Best person to answer this is DP.

It was four years ago that i did my test .(just prior to them bringing in the theory test). I had to take the bike off the centre stand before starting the test and back on the stand at the finish. I was led to believe that its to show you have controll off the bike at all times. Must of been ok cus i passed.

In my lessons I was always expected to put the bike on it's centrestand, (but then I was taught by a mysoginistic sadist). and also on my first test, but on my final one the examiner said it didn't matter - so I put it on the centrestand anyway

1. because I could swivel.gif

&

2. because I wanted to do one thing right. blush21.gif

its NOT a requirement for the test, (its a requirement for a cbt, bearing in mind most peeps haven't seen a bike before cbt)

they do now ask basic maint questions, such as
how to check the oil level,
lights,
chain tension,
operation of the kill switch,
steering,
brakes etc.

i must stress they only ask a couple of questions, grin.gif

I was taught on the CBT- but only because the bike didn't have a side stand in the first place rolleyes.gif

But I pretty much use the centerstand for day-to-day use anyway.

I've just done my test and was only asked to put it on the stand to get off and walk the bike round (after taking it back off the stand :tounge: ) then put it back on the stand to get back on. My bike had both a side and centre stand, I used the side stand and he didn't mark me down for it.
