A guy I know phoned me for some advice about his VFR 750,
like which plastic bits were savable-cos the total cost for genuine Honda bits was...................................................

£2,800!!!!!!!

poor sod lost it on a bend while out for a gentle ride with his mate-cant remember anything until he woke up in the Air Ambulance!
his mate said he just rode straight on at the bend apex-didnt brake, try to turn or avoid the large lump of tarmac by the side of the road-hit it square on at about 30mph-went up it & over a hedge, turned 360, & landed in some heather-at which point he & the bike parted company.

they thought his ribs were busted but all he had was internal bruising-mind you it still hurts 6 weeks later.
He brought whats left of his plastics & tank to me yesterday to decide if its worth resurecting-apparently the frame & forks are OK, but the rear subframe is knackered as are the clocks & fairing mount/frame.
Most of the panels will repair-& a bloody good job when you consider the price of new stuff-£2,800 for plastics for an "oldish bike?
Used bits are thin on the ground as well-so it looks like yours truly will be spending some time in the garage welding bits together :p

Sounds nasty.

DP, do you know what model of the vfr750 it is.

BD,
no M8-I dont know-The guy did tell me but I was picking bits out of a bucket & trying to match them up to busted panels at the time!
He has been on the phone just now-can get a tank for £40 & an upper right fairing bit for £35-the only bits beyond repair.
The sticker kit is a ton!
I tried to get him to have it met green & magenta flip flop-but he was having NONE of it grin.gif

He might break it if its all going to be too much-despite me quoting a stupidly low price-cos I know he loves it cool2.gif
Its low milage & apart from the obvious damage in good nick-you want some bits?
I have to say though-I'd be suprised if he does break it.

Being a fellow vifferer myself. I know a few places on the web for bits. Apart from exhausts of course. If you know what model it was, I'd keep a look out for any useful bits.

There is quite a big VFR club. I've got a link to their site at work.

What, & lose the exclusivity grin.gif
Anyway BW-I've got a "new" flip flop to play with-you will see it when I paint the cruiser-sometime next year at the rate I'm going so many bikes to paint-so little time :verysad:
