Okay so it's not exactly official!
i got two files and sprayed one with SPS and one with WD40, then i took a third and coated it in castrol grease. Then I stabbed all three into the garden and left them for a week.
results just in!
SPS file = rusty as a thousand year old nail.
WD40 = just beginning to rust but not a bad effort.
Grease = no rust but stinks and is all slimy and vile.
I sprayed all of these ( except the grease one for which i used a paintbrush) while they were vertical and my theory, for what it's worth, is that the SPS failed because of its water base. The base is kinder to stuff but relies on evaporation to remove the water and deposit the oily layer. In this cold weather the water didn't evaporate and allowed all the oily stuff to run off the file. The WD stuck better simply because its solvent base evaporated quicker leaving the oil in place. Grease was the best simply because it stuck and stays stuck.
SPS claims to neutralise salt and I cannot comment on this as i wasn't clever enough to devise a suitable test.

Ah, interestink!
I sprayed a friend's engine with said spray today.
I read the bottle and did wonder about the part where the water has to evaporate to leave the other chemicals.
Maybe it only works on parts that are already hot, such as the engine?

Well I'm glad I sprayed my bike with WD40 last time I washed it then!
I'll let you know how effective it was next time I wash it when winter's over!

Well, as you probably know my bike is off the road while I get the exhaust fixed. (Which is taking a while). I sprayed the it with castrol chain wax. :O I seems to be holding up rather nicely.

I bought the scotoiler stuff last week and sprayed the falco and my sons crosser and as im not using the falco yet i cant comment on road use but it does seem to have stopped any codensation build up on the bike.
As for my boys bike , i had him out on it today in a really muddy field afterwards i just hosed it down and 99% of the mudngrass just fell off and it started first time after the hoseing which it never usually does.
I only bought it to get the young chinese guy in H.G. in glasgow to leave me alone ,oh by the way its buy one get one free!
