Where is it rubbing on?

Steve-its rubbing on the mudguard-the white primer is the big giveaway!.
Sloth try re-routing the cable round the front of the fork-you may not have the room or slack in the cable-so be careful.
if you could post a pic of the front end, we might be able to suggest which way it should run.
it will involve removing one end of the cable-i would remove the brake lever(much less fiddly)to re-route it.
remember it needs a fair bit of slack to compensate for the movement of the front forks.

its that or the cable "stay" is too big-a smaller one MIGHT just hold the cable away from the front guard.

Sarky bugger DP....

Didn't see the pics blush21.gif

I agree that a slightly larger view would be better.

looks like the cable stay it too big but there is also no slack on the cable, its very tight as it is.

looking at the pick Sloth, the only thing you can do, if the cable is tight is to try & route it the most direct way-perhaps move it from the right of the clocks to the left(or vice versa)-that & a smaller cable stay might help.

Cable tie it to the speedo cable right at the point where both go through the cable restraint thingy! Only one tie though and tunr the handlebars fully both ways before riding to make sure it isnt affecting the steering. looks loose enough in the pics though.
Sloth
from what i have looked at it seems to have the most direct route.

also that is not the white primer but the actual mudguard that is rubbing away as its not metal.
is there anything i can either attach to the cable or mudguard so it dont rub any more?

also im not sure if this is right or not but the front suspention goes almost upto the top quite easy when im slowing down, could there be summut wrong there and thats why its rubbing on the front mudguard?

-- edit --

will give that a go zombie.

While the bike is stationary put a tie wrap round the for leg just at the top of the lower fork part, ride the bike braeking fully and normally then have a look at where the tie wrap is and take a picture, measure it as well. let us know

what do you mean exactly when you say "goes right to the top"?
is it bottoming out? by this i mean do the forks compress completely?
are there any signs of oil where the stanchions go into the sliders at the seals?
there dosen't seem to be any in the pics but you can't really tell.

stanchions = shiny silver bits
sliders = grey and black bits at the bottom.

A pic of the Front of the bike

you can tell how far the go down in normal use but the colour of the 'stanchions = shiny silver bits'
this will have to go on hold now though until i get the other problem sorted.

hmm there looks to be a lot of travel on those.
do you have a manual?
you could try draining the fork oil and refilling to the correct amount.

it looks to me like its had heigher handlebars fitted at some time, maybe why theres no other route for the cable to go, the clutch cable looks very tight as well

Turn that black plastic clip round 180 degrees..
