Had a day off work yesterday. Lovely weather so i went for a nice long ride on the SV. Didn't meet one idiot car driver, everybody waved back...it was pure pleasure.

Got home, parked the bike outside my house and popped to Halfords to pick up my little lads new pushbike. As i pull back into my road my baby is on her side on the pavement. Run over.....my neighbour opposite has reversed out of her drive and belted my baby.

I cried. I have just spent loads doing her up. Pick her up. Survey the damage as i can see.

Oil coming out of the top of the engine. Without looking to hard i think it's coming out of the air filter housing. Broken front fairing. Scrapes to the tank. Bent clutch lever. Crack to the rear plastics. Broken rear indicator..

Scratches to my Renegade...
Sob

My insurance company are using an accident management company called Helphire. Anyone heard of them?
Now i am going upstairs to have a really good cry...again

Not having too much luck lately...

Just had Helphire on phone.

They are going to send bike to a company called 4th Dimension Innovation in Shepperton. Anyone any knowledge or heard of them?

Oh sh!t, bad news Steve
Hope u don't get too long a stretch for killing the neighbour devil1.gif

No. She is really upset. My wife went over to see her last night and she was in tears. She knows it was my pride and joy....When she came home from work today i was wahing our car as it was such a lovely day. When she looked over to me i just said that normally i would be washing the bike, but not a lot of point now was ther. At least i got a smile from her.
At the end of the day, it was an accident. No one hurt and as we all have to live near each other whats the point in getting angry. Not my scene...to old and mellow i'm afraid

Bummer dude... I feel you. Just think of all the new parts you get now. I always say "if it ain't needing paint, it's all good"

I used to work for a complete wayne kerr and he managed to reverse into my bike on two occasions and then blame me because I parked it in a parking space veryangry.gif
I thought parking across the road would be safer but then he managed to nail it for a third time Oo1.gif

Wilf.... get a hammer and hit his little finger very hard,,,

At least while it hurts he will remember to look out for your bike.

or if you think he is very thick in the head,,,, show a baseball bat and explain...

The hammer is prevention,,,,,, the bat is for fixing..... lbhh.gif lbhh.gif lbhh.gif

And Steve,,,,,

Look at the brights side, at least you know who did it and it seems she will pay for it....

Imagine if it was parked on the street and some idiot did it and " did not notice it" and drove off....... ooh2.gif

Well, phone call at 0900 yesterday morning from 4th Dimension (repair co). Beariing in mind they are in Shepperton, which is about & miles from me, they picked the bike up at 1100. Had a good chat with the driver, what a nice guy. Seems like they are all what we would term as 'bikers'. Even offered to sort out my ahem, cough, problem with my Renegades......

Seems like a really good company.

Hire bike delivered at 1700. Very nice 03 Honda VFR800......

So, fingers crossed all appears to be going well for now anyway

Hi Steve, sorry to hear about yur bike, it is a bugger when it happens. At least you managed to get the details of the driver ( Being your neighbour n all ), many others dont.

As far as HelpHire are concerned they are in our experience brilliant. Ooga has used them, my brother has used them and many of our mates have too, funny actualy, i just remembered that one of Oogas fellow club members has just had the very same thing happen to her Zepher 750 last week.

Ooga gave her the number for Helphire and they are now dealing with the claim for her and they have given her a VRR800 too.

Inorder to be able to use Helphire it has to be a non-fault accident and you need to have the details of the other party. You dont even need to inform your own insurance as you will be claiming off the other parties insurance.

It may be worth having a link to them, praps i'll add it to the usefull links page.

( Done it, usefull link added HERE )

Not quite true, you need to tell your insurers of all accidents even if you aren't claiming on your own insurance. The helphire website actually says they will do this for you.

Oh.. ok.. well i was only partly wrong. However, i recently claimed off our local bus company and there was no involvement of my insurers what so ever.
StevePJ
Thanks for that, it feel happier now i know someone who has dealt with them.
Any accident you have you are supposed to ionform your Ins Co. about.

Even if i have an accident whilst i am at work, i am supposed to tell them.

We have a thing called a technical POLACC (Police Accident). Imagine i am pulling over a car for a dodgy light or whatever, and as i do so he hits another vehicle, i have to report this as a POLACC.

If i go somewhere on blue lights and two vehicles collide whilst i am manouvering...Agagin a POLACC. We have Police permits. We can now have points put on these for fault accidents, and even the passenger in the car can have points on his in certain circs.....Mind you, looking at the way a lot of my colleagues drive, and the amount of vehicles being written off, i am all in favour of anyhting that may keep others on the road safe......

at the last place i worked-we had an instructor knocked off his bike at a junction by a police officer in a patrol car. his student moved off & the instructor waited for a gap-unfortunately the police car didnt grin.gif
he was there 2 hours-had to wait for the duty seargant to come out-he wasnt the most patient bloke to start with. wwww.gif

I must admit, there are some awful drivers in my job at the moment. Problem is, some are being given driving courses after about 20 weeks in the job. They are in there very early 20's and are lethal at normal speeds, let alone on emergency shouts...

I shudder sometimes, and have to say that there are two officers i have refused to crew with unless i drive......

bad luck with the sv steve verysad.gif at least your getting it sorted though grin.gif
A so called neighbour reversed into my bike last year, then denied it ever happened even though the kids saw it happen. tosser
