Hello all, I hope you don't mind a Yank messing about here. My wife is from Wales if that helps with the approval process around here grin.gif

I ride an '03 Harley VROD and I am hoping that if all goes well, I can bring it with me when I spend holidays with the wife's family in Swansea.

Anyway, this is a great forum hearts.gif

I wonder if you're the first overseas person that's registered and posted - maybe someone else can shed some light on this grin.gif

Thanks for the welcome guys. I live on the west coast of California, about one hours ride north of Los Angeles. I have only been riding for about a year now, but I know enough to stay off the freeways in LA. That's suicide Oo1.gif

I don't consider myself a typical Harley rider. Maybe if I grow a ratty beard, get more tatoos, have beer stains on my T-shirt and beat my ole' lady, I would fit in better. laughcont.gif But for the most part, I have met some great guys and made quite a few friends.

I'm interested in chatting with some of you. I'm looking into having my bike freighted to GB and do some riding. I have always wanted to ride in the English countryside. Just gotta get past that "driving on the left" thing.

Welcome matey

I chat with a few folk from your side of the pond strange enough a mate of mine from wales moved over to the states last yr & married a lady over there & he is having trouble riding on the right lol.

I go over to france & belgium every now & then & i can not get used to riding on the right either
ThunderStorm
The "driving on the left" is not so difficult when avoiding roundabouts... lolol

Welcome mate... laughcont.gif

Nice bike the Vrod buttrock.gif

I assume from the name you have a Corvette as well - is it a classic 'vette or a more mundane (no offence) modern one?

Where? USCIS permitting, I'm moving to Berkeley in January... I guess you're south of the Bay area if it's only an hour north?? Be nice to know a biker round there when I move...

Hey drbandit: UC Berkley is about a 5 hour ride up the coast from where I am. Are you going to be there in June of '05? Some buddies and I are riding to the pro races at Laguna Seca. It would be great if you are in that area, not far from Berkely.

And yes Ex... I do have one of those late model Vettes. You are right that they look abit bland. I have dome some modifications to individualize it a little.

Here's my "rig o' fun"

THE MAN HIMSELF

DEAD MANS CURVE

QUOTE
I was cruisin' in my Stingray late one night
When an XKE pulled up on the right
And rolled down the window of his shiny new Jag
And challenged me then and there to a drag
I said, "you're on, buddy, my mill's runnin' fine
Let's come off the line, now, at Sunset and Vine
But I'll go you one better if you've got the nerve
Let's race all the way
To Dead Man's Curve"

Chorus:

Dead Man's Curve, it's no place to play
Dead Man's Curve, you must keep away
Dead Man's Curve, I can hear 'em say:
"Won't come back from Dead Man's Curve"

The street was deserted late Friday night
We were buggin' each other while we sat out the light
We both popped the clutch when the light turned green
You shoulda heard the whine from my screamin' machine
I flew past LaBrea, Schwab's, and Crescent Heights
And all the Jag could see were my six taillights
He passed me at Doheny then I started to swerve
But I pulled her out and there we were
At Dead Man's Curve

Partial chorus:

Dead Man's Curve, it's no place to play
Dead Man's Curve

Dramatic interlude: hey doc, how's my vette???

Well - the last thing I remember, Doc, I started to swerve
And then I saw the Jag slide into the curve
I know I'll never forget that horrible sight
I guess I found out for myself that everyone was right

"Won't come back from Dead Man's Curve"

I got curious about nash the slash since i havent heard anything about him for years now. apparently he's still going strong so i might get on the download mission and relive my youth! Badass electric mandolins and death electronic stuff, brilliant!

Love the bandages etc!

Always loved dead manns curve - love the bit about the six tail lights. In the record he talks in the middle to the doc about the crash and the doc says the other bloke died and nash asks - ''hows my vette?'' - excellent! Always reminded me of the moment the crash comes to an end and you lie there in pain wondering if the bikes gonna be exspensive to fix!!

great to have you abord vette, nice one mate.

Quite right too. I wouldn't mind doing the same. buttrock.gif

Trouble is, I put a new clutch in the GT on Thursday and it wanted adjusting so I just been out to do it before it got dark but I haven't got a clue which way I adjusted it - I got a blind spot when it comes to clutch adjustment anyway - maybe doing it while drunk will be better?

Hey there, welcome aboard Vette.

That's a nice collection of vehicles you got there- must take alot of effort to keep them all shiney and clean.

Hope you stick around- it's don't matter where you are, it's all about who you are.
