My viffer must have about 30k+ now. I'll need to check. Apart from the exhaust, It's never let me down.

i know a bloke who bought a Puma with nearly the big hundred K on the clock.  Cars been fine and looks/goes really well. So car mileage perception has changed.  we dont mind high miles on cars if they've been looked after.

So how many miles would it take for you to bin a deal on a five year old bike?  If we say 750 or above and the bike looks and seems good on test.

Depends on the bike I reckon. I know a guy who sold his 92 Triumph Trophy 1200 with just over 100,000 on it. OK, so that was Kms, not miles but it's still 60k miles. It didn't burn oil unless you constantly hammered it on a motorway, and even then it only ever gently sipped it. It was quieter than my triple (noisy tractors that they are) and looked really good. All it needed for its last MOT was new rear pads. He bought another Trophy 1200 with (eek - I think) about 20k on it.

I don't think I'd buy a sports bike that had probably been skelped for 25,000 - but a big solid bus e.g. a big Trumpet, Blackbird, Beemer or Pan European type of thing - no worries if it looked, sounded and could show solid evidence of being looked after.

Can you tell I'm trying to flog a bike with 22,400 on it?   laughcont.gif

I reckon anything above about 15 miles is not "delivery mileage"

I pretty much agree with TC - which is why I asked the question.  If I buy a bike or a car then its condition and its provable history are what matter to me and not necessarily the mileage.  For instance, if I bought a car with 70 k on it i would expect to see a reciept for when it's cam belt was changed etc - unless the car cost a hundred quid or something - then Id just be happy if it seemed like it would last until the tax ran out!
