Buy then while you can. When the government realise they might dazzle and confuse other road users they'll ban them soon enough .... :wink1.gif:

I used to know why tyres are black. It's to do with one of the chemical bonding agents or as means to prevent decay in UV or something innit? I take it that these problems have been resolved .. or do these tyres have a use by date / shelf life? :sus: laughcont.gif

I thought the natural colour of the tyres are white. I can't remember why the are changed to black but Spud could be right.

Do they come in Kwack met green & Magenta flip flop?

With the lack of longevity of modern tyres, and our glorious climate, I don't reckon UV degredation is going to be a major problem

Spud in being (more or less) right shocker!!!

Shhuuusssshhhhhhhhhh!

I've got a reputation to maintain.  :wink1.gif:

Question is though, was I more right or less right? And if so, than what/who?

you're more than less right.  They put a chemical in the tyre rubber to protect it from UV degradation - the chemical is black and hence black tyres.  I think fastfitter is right though, with modern bikes tyres wearing away quicker than a bar of soap at nun's bathtime UV degradation is not likely to be much of a problem!
