I make my money out of pulp fiction

Seriously, you'd be amazed at the damage a wet thing amongst the books would cause... obviously, I use a full body liner when I go in

Don't know if anyone's used the Held stuff, available from MPS, websh!te sucks, but Held have one called Nordpol which is same as Pathan, same price.

I need to buy a decent pair of gloves for Winter.
Any recommendations? From cheap but good - to top notch if you like...

Pay attention:
Make: Weise
Type: winter race
Ingredients: Leather, Thinsulate Liteloft, Sympatex
Rating: all weather
Size: Large :

:
Cost: £45
Comments: superbly comfortable, not yet tried on a really cold day.
I also found an old pair of silk gloves from the last time I went skiing. These are very thin (you don't wanna be seen wearing them luvvy  ), and give an extra layer under the main glove for warmth.

Havent tried the Pathans but have been using Haveda "lobsters" for about two years now and think they're great. they're like normal gloves inside but with only two fingers outside. the reduction in surface area does seem to keep the old fingers warmer and mine have lasted well although they're falling apart now! I wear the same gloves all year round so they've been used abit!
I got them form the colchester motorcycle centre but cant find anything on the net about them so i would recommend the gerricke ones as they look remarkably similar ( it's prolly the same manufacturer with different badging).

Dry the bike off?
Zombie, I should explain ??? Of course I dry the bike off... it's never been out in the wet as yet. But, more importantly, it's stored in a heated garage where I keep some 10,000 books to which water can mean all sorts of problems... so, Mr Bandit all nicely dried off before being parked.
My kit, of course, is hanging in the lean-to damp as a sailors crotch

BD, are they for real? Seems like good value if so... but being a style guru I am concerned about looking like a Teletubby of course

Yip, I got the ad from an old fast bikes mag from 10+ years ago.
So you'd have to pay big money for them now. Just think of the safety aspect of having gloves made out of CE armour. :sus:
I wonder how they never caught on. :O

I have heard good things about the HG ones. Nearly bought a pair myself last year. I ended up with buffalo winter gloves because they were a bit cheaper. They are okay but can be bulky and are murder to dry out. They often leave you with stinky finger syndrome, which does not make you attractive to women.

Why they called it a Headword search?
german company-german site-german idiosyncrasies(sp)?
Got to say I'm pleased with all my HG gear-all the waterproof stuff is guarenteed just that.
I also get discount from the training centre, being an Advanced rider, & just an all round nice chap!
Now if I could just get them to chuck the whole lot into the mix-they would end up paying me.
I have the Pathan 5 fingers gloves & Classics gloves which have a thermal type lining which keeps you warm in winter & cool in summer
& waterproof boots (cant remember the style- but modest in black with screw on toe sliders, hiprotect ce armour etc)
Toastie.

Yip, I don't think they've got much abrasion resistance. But at that time, we were all wearing jeans for out riding. :O

I rode from Bedford back to Newcastle on Tues night.(I'm known to do the odd daft thing now & again).
I had my Hein Gerike Classic gloves & Motrax thermal inner gloves on-200 odd miles into the trip I stopped for a pee(as you do) & stuck my hands under the dryer after washing my hands-nice!
Got to say though I'm well happy with the gloves-was considering some more "winter" types but I think I'll just stick with what I've got.

Dunno much about winter gloves cos I don't wear 'em.
Summat to do with not riding much in the winter, but when I do it's just "normal" gloves with another pair of cotton or wool ones inside.
And I was a Grammar School boy meself too

Found the bugger.
On the menu bar, there's a headword search. Click on that, then enter 'pathan' and up they come. There's both 5 finger and vulcan ones.

I'm on my way... just discovered that a/ My gloves are sh!te for "cold" riding and b/ not water proof.
Cracking day to be riding down the M4 at 90 in some sort of tropical storm I can tell you! Happy, not exactly and it took me nearly an hour to dry the bike off

Bloody hell-we seem to have some public school types in our midst-how did that happen then?
Davie, you're not screening these peeps well enough!
C.E. is Community of Europe approved (like BSI but not as good obviously)
So if you have C.E. armour in yer clothing-its to a specific standard & not just any old tat.
HTH.
BTW your "gloves" looked suspiciously like the material my wetsuits used to be made from-cant see that working very well on a bike
