Hi All,

just to let you know I have had my first off....some sh!tty corsa cut cut the car in front of me, who slammed to a stop, and forced me into a stoppie. I went over the handlebars and landed on the car..well they have air bags don't they???? and g/f followed. All ok (afer 5 hours in casulity for a tubigrip), bike a bit dented but saved by the low speed, crash protectors (R&G !!!!) and the fact that we both had bike jackets, helmets and gloved even though it was hot.

I have been through the same junction 100's of times... but it only takes one pratt to bring it all to a crashing stop.

The moral??? wear a jacket etc even when its hot!!!!

mm, try and think if there is anything you could have done to avoid it.

If your were forced into a stoppie, it means you were too close. Glad you and the gf are okay. buttrock.gif

Hiya Mouse- sorry to hear about your smash... hopefully the bike has little damage.

I always wear a jacket when out- normaly wear padded trousers as well but with the weather I just put it in my bag and keep it with me if the weather turns cold or I have to do lots of high speed//dual carrigeway riding.

I have done nothing but that since the accident. I agree I feel I was too close for exactly that reason, although I did actually manage to stop the bike before it hit the car :-)... I just didn't mange to stop myself. I will watch it even more in future. I was lucky. I'm so glad that we both were jacketed and gloved...

Looks like g/f wrist injury was from not hitting the road, but the wrenching action of holding on and then falling off.

I managed to ride the bike home, with a friend following, but I am going to get the forks checked.

I am also going to find a nice private stretch of road and practice heavy stops. If I had released just a little bit sooner the bike might have dropped down, rather than rotating around.

I always wear the jacket and gloves, and at the very least jeans, unless I am motowaying then its the full kit.

knees are a bit brused, but no road rash, I took most of the impact square in the chest so even full leathers (I was wearing an armoured summer cordura bike jacket) would have probably given me the same result.

Crash protectors definetly saved my leg as the bike did land on top of me when I was down, and also saved the radiator etc.. A letter is going off to R&G tomorrow!!!

Ouch.

Glad there's not too much damage to flesh or machine.

Sorry to hear bout your off MM, it sounds like you were lucky though. All things considered it sounds like even though you may have been too close your reactions were sharp enough to prevent you from barreling into the back of the car so there is some solice there.

Glad you are all aright. Only yesterday I was trying to tactfully explain to a young friend I was riding with that being to close to cars in front restricts your options. His reply began with, "yeah well, I've not had a crash yet so..." then he began to listen and agreed the hang back strategy gave him more scope especially on a winky 125 (Aprilia RS).

We all cock up sometimes but its good to hear people quick to learn the lessons of their faux pas. God must like you cos he just slapped you on the wrist. When he falls out with you, you'll know about it sniffle.gif veryangry.gif Oo1.gif

Good investment in the crash bars. might have to get some mushrooms for the CBR...
