Yip, definately pre concieved ideas. I have never had the pleasure of trying a CBS bike but I read enough negative articles, to make me a little wary of it. I know that we should always try stuff for ourselves but the problem is that its hard to tell the well founded stuff, from the fiction. I don't think it would put me off a bike, if I wanted it enough but I'd probably go for a non CBS model, if I had the choice between the two.

I'd like to test one though, to see what its like for myself.

I've never tried the linked brakes, the bike press slagged them off-but who takes any notice of them? not me.
My M8 has a 'Bird with them & he speaks highly enough of the system.
our Pans dont have them-one is ex Durham Police & the other new-less money without CBS-boss is a cheapskate!

I've never missed them-cos I've never HAD them.
More to go wrong when they/if they do?
Slightly off topic, but anotherM8 has a BMW with ABS-needed new seals in the pump-not rebuildable-over a grand(so he reckons) for a new pump?
I'll stick to two discs up front & one behind thanks.

TC - I disagree totally!

.with your idea that I would disagree!  ABS in my opinion is ok on cars but i have never needed it on a bike and as i mentioned in another thread I did like you once and deliberately locked the back and dropped the bike to avoid a vault over a bonnet.  ABS gives a fasle sense of security i think and people would be better practising their braking technique until they can really feel whats going on between tyres and road and act accordingly.

CBS - not tried it but the fact that so many journalists reckon it's rubbish leads me to believe it's probably quite good.  It's always the same - they get some bloke who passed his test last year and has owned nothing but a 6R and lend him a pan or blackbird for an hour.  Then they ask for his expert opinion and he says something along the lines of " The CBS was alright but i felt it took away ome of the control over the braking that I have on my ZX"
I know a bloke with a bird and he reckons it's good so Id rather believe him  but in any case i try it and see.
