hi,
i will try not to get to involved in this but here is my problem:
i had a bump (not crash) last december, bumped someone at the lights (setting off).
we checked cars etc, no damage or injuries etc (was only doing about 5 to 10 mph)
3 month later we get a call from our insurance (im on my dads insurance for the car as i dont use it that much) about a crash that happend in dec 2003.
the other person is claiming 4 injuries (1 adult 3 kids) & about £500 worth of damage.
my insurance company has desputed their claim (photo's took of both cars etc by insurance peeps)
now where do i stand if i want some insurance for a bike.
the questions its asking online i cant answer as it is in despute and we have heard nothing for months.
i dont have access to the details at the moment as my dad is away so what do i do on saturday when/if i go to pick up the bike?
cheers
mick

You are not in dispute as you are not the policy holder. As far as an insurance company is concerned you have never made a claim and never had insurance as its on your dads policy.

Not quite, if you had an accident you have to declare it whether a claim was made or not.
Best to ring them up and tell them than have your insurance invalidated because of non-disclosure. Insurers do share this information you know.

They will probably only ask for the same stuff you have given here. Date, amount being claimed, how it happened, who was at fault and what injuries.

Make sure you tell them that as far as you are concerned there were no injuries.
Was it reported to the police by either of you at the time? Probably not by you as there is no requirement to report a non-injury accident, but did the other driver report it? If not, he hasn't really got a leg to stand on re the injury claim, I would have thought. Anyway it might be relevant to tell the ins co if he didn't.

we didnt even exchange details as there was no damage or injuries at the time.
he prob wrote my number plate down as i drove off.
as far as i'm concerned they are trying it on.
it wasnt until 3 months or so later that our insurance contacted my dad about the incident.
i dont really want to lie incase they check up then i will be screwed.
