Full Version: Bandit 400 Ignition ?

I have just bought a bandit 400 project.

The bike is a 1992 registered import, its a GSF400-Z 70th Anniversary Edition it does not run.

The previous owner has swapped out the original engine with a 1993 GSF400-P engine.

Ignition is producing a poor spark and bike wont run.

The Cdi is the early type with the two plugs, and is an uprated one from some tuning company in UK.

Question 1,
Are the timing gear / signal wheels different on the bikes and if so is it a big job to change them ?

Question 2,
How do you check the signal generator ? does anyone have values ?

Question 3,
Am i being thick and have i missed something totaly obvious ?

Cheers

'Fraid I don't know anything about 400 Bandits, but a weak spark would point me in the direction of things like; plug leads and coils.

Though I could be totally wrong!

Ignition is all over the place, going to change the timing gears to the original one that matches the CDI as that makes most sense to me. i think.....

also someone said to use 750cc ignition coils as the 400/600cc ones are pretty weak ??
