Are you going to try to take in the Romanian one - the Transfagarasan - that was featured on Top-Gear?
Clarkson reckoned it knocked the Stelvio into a cocked hat.

B7055 is a great road. On Monday I got stuck on the M74 behind an escorted wide load. Hit the 7055 (it's the old main road, and gets you from Gretna up to Abington) and blasted past the lot.
Good surface, little traffic, excellent visibility, fast sweeping bends, and you can cover the distance at least as fast as on the motorway.
A93 takes you over Glenshee. From Bridge of Cally it's a nice bendy road to keep you busy, and then it changes at Spittal of Glenshee. For about a mile it's very windy and should be treated carefully, but after that you start the uphill drag over the mountain. It sweeps round a big open bend, and takes you through the ski centre. As you leave the ski centre you go through miles of really fast bends. You can see down the valley for ages so there are no surprises, and the tour buses are used to bikes along there so they tend to slow down a little for you to get past safely. Get to Braemar and stop for grub.
Most of the road surface is great - it's really just the windy bit at the bottom of the mountain that's a bit worn, but not potholed.
A83 through Glen Coe. Excellent views, good road surface, nothing too tricky, good overtaking opportunities. Watch for the odd speed trap or low-level military flight.
B6277 Alston -> Barnard Castle. Smooth, quick, quiet. Took this route to Squires twice now, and it's still nice. Even when I got caught in the rain.
Need a change of pace? Fine. Go to Reeth (it's on the B6270), head for the Charles Bathurst Inn, and then take the next right. Unclassified road. Single-track, chase the sheep off it, nice and slow, very twisty, a nice bit of fun at a more sedate pace. The other end comes out at the A66, just South of Barnard Castle, where you can join onto the one above and head to Alston if you want. Word of warning - if you want to piss, do it in Reeth. There are very few people driving along that road, but every vantage point seems to have a car parked on it, so unless you like an audience you'd best find a toilet before you leave!
There you go - a few nice roads there, and even a couple for you English folks!

A51/A52/A512 out of the Peak District going through Ashbourne and Leeke. It was my first post-CBT ride and first ride on my Yam, what a road to start out with. Fantastic views of the peak district, nice twisties and long straights, and some really picturesque villages that were like turning back half a century. I was loving every second.

yeh..thats a nice one
but for me, around here (as i see you are from Newbury too) the best road of all has to be Basingstoke - Alton..
or a bit closer to home, my "circuit" is Newbury - Wantage - Hungerford - Newbury.

lots and lots of nice little "runs" round here. I live in Bucklebury so Bucklebury - Bradfield - Pangbourne is another little favourite.

Legolas or legoland ??
Best circuit I've done is :
A82 north out of Glencoe through Fort William,
Turn onto A87 at Invergarry and follow to Kyle of Localsh,
Stop at the keyside carpark overlooking the Skye bridge for lunch.
Resume and go over the Skye Bridge and turn onto the A851 to Amadale
( sections on that road you can touch 150mph if your so inclined)
Ferry crossing to Mallaig
A830 back to Fort William and return to Glencoe
Saturday night live band at the Clacaig Inn

The roads up there are terrific.
Sadly, a friend of mine was killed a couple of weeks ago on Laneside near Middleton in Tees when a car pulled out in front of him. He was an experienced rider, who had acted as police instructor - it can happen to any of us. Take care out there, folks.
