Right, given that the business is currently getting by but not putting us in the black, and the fact that I rarely get to ride these days, I am thinking that it is not worth having a £2000 bike sat outside my house when I could sell it and have a £500 bike and a welcome boost to my bank account of £1500 to help us get by.

What bikes would people recommend that I could get for around the £500 mark these days. Don't mind a bit of a do-er upper as I tend to have more opportunity to tat with bikes than ride them.

Any suggestions appreciated grin.gif

I wouldn't be that surprised if you could pick up a T3 (mid 90s) Trident for that kind of money - mate of mine is selling a T3 era Trophy and its book price is a bit under a grand. I reckon a Trident might go for 500 or so, and they are ace bikes.

An original Trident, of course, will go for substantially more than 500 lbhh.gif

Failing that, crabby CB500?

EDIT : Found a good looking Trident on ebay at about 900 but a slightly scabbed Sprint on at 350 with a few days to go. The 90's Triumphs are good honest bikes as you know - worth a look?

Depends on where you ride. You can easily get a Guzzi V50(II) for that money. Does the same job as a CB500 in a slightly quirkier way. Not recommended for long distances though. If you want to cover distances, the ZZR could be worth a look, or you might even find an older CBR600 on t'eBay for that sort of money.

divvy 600 !

Bandit 600 mate. You might even find a sneaky 1200 for that money if you time it right.

I've had two and they're so reliable and there's so much you can do to them as and when you can afford it.

Have a look around – its just my opinion but am sure many would agree.

Blackbird! Blackbird! Blackbird! Blackbird!

You won't get one for £500, but stop being such a pussy and buy a Blackbird!

Okay, a Divvie is a great wee bike. Costs feck-all to run, and with the BT45s it can handle really nicely even two-up. Comfy too!
