The North Devon Mini Register Legendary Grand Tour has been going for over ten years, raising money for the Childrens Hospice South West. Last year the event raised £29,000.

Whether in a mini or on a motorbike it is great fun - Tee-bird and I have been marshals for four out of the last five years. Not only you get to stop the traffic (well not legally stop it, just ask them to wait lbhh.gif ) and take their money off them, but after the last mini has gone past you get to overtake them all to get back to the front again (that bit is not essential, but it is fun!) grin.gif

Please let us know if you are interested in coming down

And on the Monday, the Minis and their owners dress up, and some of the bike marshals do too.

It is a lot of fun, but also you know you are part of something that has a major impact on a lot of very short lives. It is so good, we even planned the date of our wedding and honeymoon so that we could get back just in time to go.....

The North Devon Legendary Grand Tour is more than just a Mini or Motorbike event. It’s a community event and will involve over 300 minis, lots & lots of Motorbikes. 3 Lord Mayors, some incredible scenery, lots of fantastic car parks, a Pipe Band, an Ambulance, a Town Crier and a visit to a very special place Little Bridge House(LBH). Don’t think we sneak in and out of LBH very quietly. When we arrive all the horns are blasting out and there waiting for us are some very special children, with their brothers & sister, mums & dads and their carers, so many people waving and cheering. You will see LBH like few people ever get to see it and the feel will stay with you for a long time.

When? Its in the subtitle: August bank holiday weekend (i.e. sat, sun and mon)

Where? North Devon: the campsite is at the Big Sheep on the A39 between Bideford and Clovelly.

I don't think the itinerary is finalised yet, but probably will be:

Saturday: a short run from Bideford Burrows into Bideford Quay (though that isnt really marshalled).
Sunday: an all day run from Bideford Park to Hartland Quay then to (maybe) Dartington Crystal in Torrington.
Monday (fancy dress day) Westward Ho to Lee Abbey(Valley of the rocks) to Ilfracombe

Nope, the info wasn't - and isn't - there! No times or places, it's only a month away! Just lots of info about last year.

Obviously anyone who gets in touch will be given the info they need - but they are more likely to get volunteers if people can see what's involved! As they can now you've posted it.

I realised their website wasnt very clear about this year's event when I went to have a look. We didnt need any info from their website so I hadn't realised blush21.gif

Anyone interested coming and being a marshal for this event can just turn up on the day, if you want to camp you will need to book.

If anyone can make this, it is a great weekend, lots of fun and all the money goes to the childrens hospice. The mini website updates the amount collected and where the money is spent.

BA and I are off on Friday morning and we will be in fancy dress again on the bikes on the Monday, that's funny seeing the bikers and the mini owners and their mini's in fancy dress............... grin.gif

Wish i could make it this weekend but I'm committed to taking my boy out this weekend. Hope you have a good weekend and raise loads of money.

The weekend went very well, great fun. 250 minis, 30+ bikes, and well over £20,000 raised for the children's hospice. £3,800 of that was collected by the bike marshals.

Monday was fancy dress day, for the minis, and even for a few of the bikes.

That really is a 3ft inflatable palm tree on the back of our bike - and it stayed there all day, at all speeds.
