i am booked in for my bike test at the end of the month on my bike a gilera runner st, and wanted a gilera nexus 500 upon passing my test but i have just found out that the bike is a 40bhp scooter. is there any 33bhp scooters out there or can the nexus 500 be resticted.

thanks
devilpaint
it can be restricted, might cost you a bit, but better than getting caught on a "full power" grin.gif machine.

Good luck.

In theory, anything can be restricted. In practice you might not be able to get a kit to do so.

Maybe look at 400cc or 250cc scooters in the interim?

Steve.i have a nagging feeling the gilera runner is flagged up as not conforming for the test. i cant be sure as its a while since i had anything to do with tests but i'm almost sure i have seen a document on the wall in the examiners office at gateshead test centre mentioning the runner. i hope i'm wrong but for your sake, i would ring the dsa centre to confirm. i would hate for you to turn up & find out you cant take the test!. if i remember it was something to do with power output.

probably nothing, fcrossed.gif

Well done! I have my automatic licence and never regretted it, but I am taking my manual licence too, partially because when abroad its much harder to hire a large scooter, those 125cc just dont do it for me anymore. So I did manual Mod1 and doing Mod 2 soon.

As for scooters, I would highly recommend the Burgman 400AN, try getting anything over 2007 year. Plenty of cheap ones about with LOW mileage once you passed.

I have now done 12000 miles on that bike since I bought it, including a biking break in Scotland. Just about to fit panniers so my filtering days may be over for the from A_B run to accommodations but once there the panniers can come off. ;-)

There are 300 gilera's about, but honestly once on a Burgman, you will notice it moves accellerates and you can pack the kitchen sink. devil1.gif

BA and I have panniers and both filter, BA's bike is a big sports tourer and he doesn't have too many problems filtering, just have to get to know the width of your bike with them on grin.gif
