Went to view the CB 400-4 super sport 1976 and when I got there and saw it.. IT WAS MINE.. got ta have it, the condition was better than the picture, only a little restoration I think.

The bike was a good runner up til two years back, where it has laid in a warm work shop at the back, so Next week I pick it up and now Ive spent this years holiday money cry.gif and were away in a couple o' weeks so there's no Ice creams for me for a long time.

There were 3 old Vellocettes 1960's era and they may be up for sale soon the old mans retireing and he's not sure if he's selling all of them as one has been his from new, he's thinking of maybe keeping that one..

Gislaine
I got one too, and again it has cast wheels whereas the originals are spoked, so on the look out for some.

I love em
ima
come on then gislaine, lets see a pic

The cast wheels stumped me for a bit, don't remember them on a Fu-fu. They look like Yammy ones having 6 spokes.

Nice looking bit of kit though dad bowdown.gif

Verry nice plug, i have always loved the growl of the 400/4's.

Gislaine, i got a z650 spoked front rim you are welcome to if you cover the postage, no tyre but it should be ok for the 400/4.

Let me know if it is any good for you.
devilpaint
those wheels are aftermarket-the 400/4 never had em over here. they look a lot like a set of italian made wheels i had on my 812 yoshi melba? i think.

you keeping them plug? i'm not sure if you can get modern radials to fit the old spoke jobbies, might be wrong. the guards were chrome as well & the finned engine covers are an add on, not sure about the 4/1but if its original its been looked after bloody well.-i'm not jealous at all m8

looks very nice, they were a revelation when they 1st arrived here.

Gislaine, when we going to see a photo of yours then ......
the bike that is...... blush21.gif

Hadn't noticed the pipe, looks like a Motad.

I'm sure some of the washers are non-standard too - sharp intake of breath from the classic boys eyebrow.gif
devilpaint
oh crap, non standard stainless washers you think FF- thats him out of the classic honda club then-better stay here with peeps who dont give a s*it as long as he enjoys it!.

DP you could be right but I was informed that they did offer at extra cost these mag alloy wheels at tyhe time of buying the machine when new ??.

The mudgaurds are in chrome or was some one painted over them maybe cos the chrome was rusty??

Eagle eyed fastfitter is right again, it is a motad replacement system but seeing as its aroung 28 years old theres gotta be a few add ons n' changes.

I got a phone call tonight so Im picking the bike up tommorow or to day as its midnight now.
fastfitter
Hey, there's no add-ons or changes with me, and I'm around 28 years old

Promise, soon as I can get out when my cast is off, I will take said photo and post it. fcrossed.gif

Mines staying at a friends at the moment, my family are not yet ready for the bombshell of me getting another bike. Cant blame them really but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.
BikerGran
Plug, that bike is gorgeous! But it would look even better with spoked wheels as original. Nothing wrong with the pipe, they always had a 4 into 1 anyway.

Dunno about the front mudguard, doesn't look like the original one but it looks fine to me.

When I find my camera (the living room is all packed into the spare room while we decorate) I'll post a phot of my poor little 400/4 all covered in red oxide paint!

This is one I photted on the Isle of Man last year - hope mine will look like this one day!

That a nice looking bike in the picture, Im looking out for some wheels to put it back to standard I dont think there will be to much work on mine all though I will strip it and powder coat the frame and a few engine covers as polishing them will be more work later on keeping it clean, going for a battery today so it should fire up..fingers crossed. lbhh.gif

Oo1.gif Now that's nice, Plug... I wouldn't mind something like that myself actually... but I think Mrs B would slaughter me if I buy anything else before I retire blush21.gif

This is what I do now Ive retired, start looking for bikes to play with until the Mrs puts a holt on it cry.gif she's more into sunny holidays all though she does love bikes.

Trouble now is..Im getting more bikes than I can finish restoring at the mo n ' the garage is tight for room..
slaphead
The wheels look very similar to the ones on my (ancient) XS400. They were also fitted to the XS250 and RD250/400's.

Having said that, they do look goooood on the 400/4. I used to hate cleaning the bloody spokes when I had one!
