The VTR1000F Firestorm is an impressive performer that sets the standard for V-twin supersports bike performance. A dynamic
thrust of V-twin acceleration coupled with assured control and long lasting comfort produce effortless riding fun. The Firestorm is supersports,
commuter and tourer brought together in one refined high performance machine
Not new, but only 8,000 miles with FSH... now, what about those Remus cans

You're not going to believe this, but I had one of those also.
After my TL1000S melted down (main bearing at 16000kms) I wanted something reliable and cheap, so with Honda's reputation I decided on this bike which was a Honda Canada Factory demo with 7000kms on it and a full warranty.
Ater I sold it to finance the purchase of the SP-1, I wondered for a long time if I'd done the right thing for real world riding. A buddy has his up for sale now. He's put Two Brothers cans on it, had the front forks revalved and got a new shock and spring for it. He put on braided lines too. The bike sounds great. Very Ducati ish. Seems to handle fine also as he's a good rider and flies thru the corners.
Did they enlarge the fuel tank in the UK? From what I gather they didnt in North America. A shame, because I thought that would make it a great solo sport tourer. It, like the SP get's some crappy fuel range figures, especially if you ride it hard.

my m8 had one Blandy-not as focused as an sp1/2 but a bloody good bike-as dirty shorts said fuel figures are frightening when you get "enthusiastic"

ace's brother Berry got a firestorm after his bandit, nice bike it was too (u might have seen it, crashed up nicely, on the petrolheads site)
+ sounded lush with a set of scorpians on it!!! When he first got the scorpians, he was round my mates house, showing off + my mate was standin behind the bike, Berry started it up and my mate jumped out his skin!!!!!!! dead funny!!!! hehehe

I just remembered. I met a guy on a VTR1000 (that's what they're called in Canada) in the states a couple of years ago who had an aftermarket fuel tank on his. You could just barely tell that it was larger. The sly devils who made it, managed to make it a tad larger everywhere without screwing up the shape. He said he got it from England. I also think he said he payed close to $1000 US for it. Ouch! Think he said it gave him another 1.5 gallons. That would be US gallons which is probably a hair above 1 imperial gallon.

Bugger

I think I'll keep the cash in the wallet and stop a little more often
Yep, I've done a little research on what I wanted next and a TL would be nice... but I am not that committed a heroe... Ducati (looked at the 748 I think... nice

) but not practical... SV looks a bit girly to me (no offence meant, obviously) and the VTR just has the balance...
But then.... WTF do I know? One Bandit? One VTR? Hardly a test-rider I'd say
Pick the beasty up in about 10 days... Remus cans on order, plus braided hoses, front suspension bits to be fitted by a "specialist" in Bath

They look very nice BW. A mate of Ging has one and they moan at him about the fuel range. There where in the hills up here and ran out of fuel. The prilla doesn't have the greatest of tank ranges either. They had to get a bloke to syphon the petrol out of his lawnmower just to get them to a petrol station.

What's the range then? I work on 100 miles for the Bandit and almost never push that...

Is it worse than that?
Anyhoo, go ask someone who gives a toss.... I want that bike!

Had a 99 VTR Firestorm. One of the best bikes i have ever had. Braided hoses a must. IMHO it was better than the Blade that replaced it owing to some theivin little ******* trying to steal it and it being written off.
I can only mirror what most say, the only, and i mean only downside is the range from the tank. But what a small price to pay for a piece of heaven.....
One day myself and the she devil i call the wife went from our house in Slough, to Portsmouth with her a a pillion. I can honestly say that apart from firming the suspension on the rear to accomodate 'shamoo' as i lovingly call her, there was no performance difference.
BTW if you are interested i have an unmarked rear seat unit to fit one, just painted in primer....
Shameless bit of marketing there...
You wont get the grin off your face for weeks.

I'd buy another one. Thats about as high a recomendation I can give. To hell with range and fuel milage!! It's a Japanese bike that has character, and that's very hard to find!!
I can't recall now but I wonder if theres room on the underside of the tank to expand it?
Welding fuel tanks these days is not nearly as dangerous as it once was. I think they flush it with water and then argon gas is injected??
Another idea is googling "Fuel Cells" and seeing what you come up with. Even another half gallon would help when touring. If you ride it hard, you'll be seeing the fuel light before 100 miles with the stock tank.
http://www.honda.ca/MotorcycleEng/CurrentM...htm?model=sportClick on the specs for the 03 model and then the 04 model. They've upped the tank capacity for the 04. Glad Honda is listening!! Makes me also wonder if they were listening to people moan about fuel milage, if they also changed something with the ignition, carburation?

Thanks matey, there's already one on there... and, apart from cans and hoses, I am not spending anything on extras for this beast... it's more than enough for me I'm afraid and I shall spend the next year learning to handle it I expect

Now, about the fuel consumption...
99.1 before the fuel light... but that's at the TT Races
Oh, and apologies all... if anyone still remembers me... I'll try and be a little more "postie" if you'll pardon the sardonic wit and play on words
