Full Version: Handlebar risers...

Ok, I've just come back from riding around the south of Spain on a Transalp, (wow, they have some great roads...) and going back to my Hornet I have noticed that the riding position is possibly a little too leaned over for me. (The Transalp was very upright).
My question is this; if I add risers (30mm?) will it really alter the bike's handling that much? I have only been riding since last July, so it's not as though I'm Barry Sheen... I just don't want to fork out for the risers and then find that I hate the way it makes the bike behave.

If anyone has a set of risers going spare... get in touch?

Cheers.

Think risers are pretty cheap, so would probably be better to invest, and try them out. You'll never know which you prefer until you try and everyones opinion on a comfortable ride will be different.

edit. Not as cheap as I thought... maybe ebay is worth a look?

As long as fitting the risers do not require adjusting the forks in the yokes, there should not be any change in the handling.

However, I once fitted a set to a 955i Sprint RS and needed to 'drop' the yokes by 6mm. This speed up the handling. Which I preferred smile1.gif

I fitted risers to my yamy and found them a better ride but check you have enought play with cables & brake pipes, risers do tend to be pricey depending on which type I went for the under h/bar jack up type about 25mm got them of e-bay about £8-00, hope it helps..
