Firstly, i'm not in the slightest bit mechnically minded lbhh.gif

Went to start my bike this morning, 98 thundercat, which i did successfully for about 15 secs before it cut out.

At first i thought it was the battery but now i'm not to sure, it just clicks when i try to start it. Everything else works just fine on the bike which is why i don't think it's the battery.

It has been standing still for about the last 2 weeks coz the weather has been rubbish.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated fcrossed.gif

Prolly is the battery - lights etc will work but not enough for ignition. Charge it up and see wink1.gif

Oh and invest in an Optimate grin.gif

^What she said ^

Erk!

I've agreed with Faze.

Am I sickening for something? lbhh.gif

Nope, yer rep just went below ground zero wwww.gif

What they said - when it just clicks, the solenoid is working but there's just not enough power to spin the starter. Everything else works because nothing else needs that much power. Charge it up and see, but if it does it again you'll need a new battery.

Not neccessarily - mine used to die on a regular basis this time of year if it wasn't getting used a lot....

Depends whether you want to keep finding it flat when you want to ride.
Fazerstun
That's why I bought an Optimate wink1.gif

I had a similar problem with my 94 CBR... I bought a new battery, and it turned out to be the regulator.

Still... at least I had a spare battery!

Nope, haven't got round to charging the battery up yet coz i've been maxed out at work!

I'll second the Optimate or a Maximiser. Had no probs since fitting mine.

Try statrting it every 2 or 3 days if it is not being used aswell, might be a pain but it will be smoother, or ride in the bad weather aswell.

Firstly, cheers for the help! beer.gif I disconnected my immobiliser in the end coz I'm convinced that's the source of my problem! fcrossed.gif

Anyway, I've got my hands on an oximiser (friend gave me one grin.gif ) but how do I fit to my bike to do the trickle charge? Anybody know?
AllyBally
Could well be the alarm / imobiliser, left for a few weeks they can flatten a battery , have known some to do it in afew days!?! just depends on the current they use.
Wiring in the charger shouldnt be too hard, needs to be wired into the battery leads, nice and neat with a nice plug to connect/ disconnect when used/not used ( and to prevent some little scrote playing with your wiring) preferable tucked away.
What wiring came with it?
andyb
It came with positive/negative attachments which obviously go on the screws if the battery atthe other end it has a junction box plug thing, that's the bit that i have no idea where it goes Oo1.gif

Not gonna complain for free though beer.gif

Figured it out now, i was a minor blonde moment grin.gif

Cheers for the help bowdown.gif
