I want to make or buy a 12volt converter? that reduces 12 volts down to 9 volts is there such a thing or will I have to make one up.
If having to make one up what would I need and how easy would it be?

Or could I wire up useing a potentiometer on the live side amd setting the volage to 9v via a multimeter and locking the pot to stop it moveing ?.

Remember Im a mechanical enginneer not electrical although i can reasonably understand lectrics ish.

.....Red to red black to black turn on the power and stand well back laughcont.gif ..

sounds like you need a step down transformer plug, you could try maplins they might have something, although i wouldn't like to hazard a guess on price.

What you trying to run Dad?

I've found that some things aren't that sensitive to the input voltage (within reason)

Thats a little bit to big for what I want, What Im wanting to do is run a rider to pillion intercom with out messing with batteries and then I can wire it up via the ignition so's the thing is of when the bike is stood.

I can then store it under the seat and hard wire it in and just plug in n' go sort a thing with out having to lift the seat and turn it on every time plus keep an eye on the battery for low voltage.

That should cover it for you to Fastfitter my 'ol mate, BY THE WAY ! FITTED THAT PIPE YET??.. mines done... spot on "get it" .. spot on every 30 seconds laughcont.gif.

What make of intercom is it? Some have leads available that do all of this for you. Autocom even have an adapter that plugs into the circuit just before the rear brake light switch which saves any cutting of wires, no reason why you shouldn't use that with another makes lead though and I just happen to have one spare.

Thanks ,I did look on there site but it diddn't throw that lot up,my sonic is a little older than that one but not much seems to have altered.
The only problem I have with it was trying to change the helmet leads to curl cables< tried all over the place and got no luck so I decided to leave well alone.

Thanks again.
