I've got a Piaggio Zip 100, the first thing I bought before I had the GS 125. I've been trying to sell it for a while now (No such luck). Anyway, i've been starting it every once in a while to make sure it runs, and it's been running fine. However I went to start it just now and it fails to start. I had nothing, no indicators or anything. I took the battery out and there was a sort of yellowish/rustish substance on the positive terminal, which I wire-wooled off. Now, after messing with the kickstart for a bit (It doesn't start the scooter for some reason, however it aids in doing so if it's too cold to start it) I get the indicators flashing and the horn works. Nothing comes from the electric start however. I was just wondering, am I correct in my assumption that the battery is flat? or could there be a problem with the electric start?

(P.S if anyone wants a blue Piaggio Zip 100, in good condition, and you live in/near Derbyshire. There's one going here!)

It sounds like your battery might be flat.

Maybe put it on a trickle charge overnight and try again tomorrow.

The items you've described that work don't really take much juice, but the starter motor on the other hand...

As I thought. I just wondered if something else has knackered itself up. I personally don't have a trickle charger, but I know a good friend that does. So I'll go nab his and stick it on. Cheers!
