I've got a bit of a leak/weep from the barrels/head on my Gpz. I've been told that this was a common problem on the Gpz's and they fixed it on the later ones. Does anyone know which year they fixed it and whether the gaskets would fit or is there some other way to fix it.
It's not much of a problem, but the weep eventually leaves an oily patch on the leg of my jeans.

Stick a bin liner round your jeans, thus preventing said oil stain.

Contact your local Suzi dealer, they should be able to tell you.

Are all bolts at their correct torque settings???

My old BSA Starfire (worse bike I ever owned) used to leak oil along the top of the primary chaincase.

Advantages were ....

Just kept topping it up, never needed to do an oil change

Waterproof left leg and boot.

Constant supply of oil onto rear chain.

"They all do that sir"

Unless it's a major leak it's hardly worth the trouble of getting the head off to change the gasket.

As Fourtoes said, might be worthwhile getting the torque wrench out and checking bolts.

I thought of that too but it was wishful thinking. It still leaks. Drat!
It looks like it leaks a lot ( well it does if you don't clean it for a couple of years) but it only needs a top up every couple of months.
I'm stiil in two minds whether to keep it or sell it. Whenever I sell a bike it's better than when I bought it. I'd be happy if I got £550 for it and it's just had new Bridgestone tyres, a D.I.D professional chain, sprockets and new pads all round. But it looks a complete dog!
I'll probably keep it for a little longer as I can't afford anything else.
Finn
how about trying some HT liquid gasket? might help stop the leak if the stock gaskets are a bit crappy

Sounds like it doesn't owe you much then Wilf - if it only needs a top-up every few weeks I'd leave it at that

One thing you can try is what a bike mech did to my Kwak years ago - he gave the head a good clean-up then sprayed it with some high temperature paint. Stopped it leaking for ages (but it was only a seepage then, now it's more like a waterfall!)
