You can buy yourself a 125 and live off it for two years mate. Perrsonally i feel biking is a , god i hate saying this, a lifestyle choice. We dont ride bikes coz it gets us through the traffic, although that is an obvious benefit, but rather we ride bikes coz well i dunno really! get yerself a scooter or a 125 bike and see how you like it. It aint easy riding in the bad weather or paying out for decent gear which makes it not that cheap in the long run. If your heart is set on a tmax then i know where you can snap up an accident damaged one for bugger all! eyebrow.gif

You cant escape a test though, licence or not , you will have to do a cbt.

Yup, the only thing you can ride with a car licence is a moped (under 50cc)
Once you have completed CBT you can ride up to 125 on L plates - if you like the look of the Tmax but are only taking CBT and not a test then the Tmax's little brother the Majesty 125 is a nice /useful bike and is capable of 70mph.
Don't forget you will have to re-take your CBT every two years if you don't complete a bike test.

I wouldn't really class the CBT as a test though. So don't lose heart. It's more of a training package to give you a basic understanding of the bike. Many moons ago, you just went straight out onto the road without any knowledge at all. The CBT stops that and puts an experience rider beside you to help you get started.

the cost of decent gear isn't that much, i've just kitted myself out with new pants, jacket and helmet for under £200, a small price to pay imho..
