hello.gif Hi everyone

I've made a couple of posts elsewhere but thought I should introduce myself properly - here goes...

I passed my DAS test in May 08 and have ridden a 2001 Honda Hornet CB600 since last June. It was love at first sight hearts.gif , and it has proven to be a reliable and trustworthy friend. I am just about to hit my 38th birthday (although in my mind am never older than 21 << lol lbhh.gif >> which goes to prove you're never too late to 'see the light' and join the biking fraternity! I'm an ickle 5'3'' but never let that hold me back (all hail to little bikers the world over!). I also love knowing that my very own biking adventure has only just begun.....and long may it continue buttrock.gif

So anyway, my husband (on his ZZR 11) and me on my beautiful blue Hornet are shortly off on a two-week riding hol to France. After taking the Euro-tunnel, we're riding from Calais down to a place near Carnac in the south west of Brittany. If any of you have any recommendations about good biking routes or places to visit in that part of France (or anywhere around the North West) I'd love to hear about them! thumbsup2.gif

Cheers all,

Kate

I'm underwhelmed with the detail.

That must be true of nearly every town/city, the trick is finding it

Hi Debs,

YAY - It's nice to know I'm in good company! Haven't joined hhoc yet, but I did have a look around the site when I got my hornet last summer. Some excellent tips on there - maybe it's time I joined up!! grin.gif

Cheers, Kate beer.gif

There are some lovely roads and superb places to visit (as well as the Carnac standing stones) get a michelin map and look for the roads with a green egde - they are the pretty ones in general. My map is upstairs and it's too late to riffle for it - maybe tomorrow.
Everywhere we went in Brittany was bike friendly, dont forget the biker greeting there is often stretching out a leg, so if you see that they are just doing the french version of a nod.

Hi Snapdragon grin.gif

Thanks for the tip -we've got a Michelin map so will have a look for those 'green' routes. Carnac is def on our list of places to visit, and I have bought a Brittany guide for a few more ideas. Glad to know Brittany folks are accepting of us two-wheelers. I'd heard about the 'greeting' too, so will remember to reciprocate as wouldn't like to cause the locals any offence!! eyebrow.gif

Welcome - just found the asylum myself!
Being vertically challenged I was also thinking of changing to a Hornet in the New Year. (May be sooner now that my trusty CB500 has been restyled for me verysad.gif )
Took one for a test ride the other week, and really liked it.
Just have to wait for the insurance Cos. to sort it all out, and my foot to return to normality.

Is there safety in numbers for us newbies? wink1.gif
