Because he is over optimistic on what someone else will pay for his pride and joy and is in for a shock when no-one bids (or we are in for a shock when some idiot bids).

Because it's an RC 30. Probably fetch it with nil miles.
Very nice 1st true 'race bike on the road' but not worth 10 G's to me anyway.

FF is correct, the RC30 demand big bucks and are good investments. £10k is asking a hell of a lot though and he won't encourage folk to bid by have such a high starting bid.
The RC30 are collectors items and hold prices even better than the RC45, if I remember correctly.

They're as rare as rocking horse sh!t apparently. Never as good as an OWO1 but who am I? Eh? What do I know about anything? I wouldnt give him ten grand for it unless his missus was fit as you like and she was prepared to offer numerous sexual favours, do my ironing and cook dinner for a year. Even then Id haggle!

This bloke wrote this about them.
The Honda V four history. QUOTE
In 1987 rumors started of a out and out sports version of the VFR. In 1988 it arrived in the form of the VFR750R and also started a trend of calling the bikes by their factory code, in this case the RC30 (The orginal VFR750Fs were the RC24s.). The RC30 was pure sportsbike and even today the lines are timeless and immaculate. RC30s sell for silly money. This was a racing bike with lights strapped on. It became the bike of choice for private race team everywhere. Importers had to turn customers away and in Japan 3000 were ordered even during before RC30 made it to the road.
He must know what he's talking about.
A nice pic of an RC30.

Those things are supposedly expensive to own also. Fairings if still available, were crazy prices. I dunno, to me, the attraction of that bike is it's looks. So why not get the little NC30 for a reasonable price? Or if you have the money and want something unique, there's lots of Italian stuff out there.

The deal is that its one of 'those' bikes that people aspired to owning back in the day. they couldnt afford it then being a spotty yoot but now theyve got their kids at private school and a nice job in the city they think they would like to live the dream they had when they were younger. So they buy it and love it . Good luck to them I say, but its still TOO EXPENSIVE!
Id pay that for an NR750 - but then wouldnt everyone? For that money the NR would have to be a serious dog!
