Help!! I have put some light scratches on my tank due to wearing a zipped jacket. Does anyone have any advice as to if there is anything I can do short of re-spraying? I don't think I can use touch up because of the "unique" colour (and think it looks awful anyway). Wasn't there a product advertised that claims to be able sort this kind of problem? Cheers all

I remember that scratch restorer stuff... bloody rubbish!
If the scratches are only into the lacquer, you can sometimes polish them out with waxing, or (like Fraulein Stun says) try T Cut.

If they are light scratches you may get away with Meguiars Scratch X, I used it last year on mine and was amazed at the results, took a bit of elbow grease, but well worth it, good luck.

Too deep for that Plug. Seen a van down the road advertising a chip repair system that also claims to repair vandal keying. Anyone had any experience with this?? Cheers

yeah these chaps are awesome, my girlfriends mother decided to drive into my car and scratched the whole side, luckily there was no bodywork damage, and they used some filler (I presume as the scratch was down to the white) and then matched the paint. Cost them about £120 quid, well worth it in my opinion.

no problem, my scratches were really bad for the price, I can only imagine yours would be around £50, they prefer if you can get shelter form the elements if not then its no biggy, i would pass on the details of the company i used, but they are based in Enfield......

You obviously need a tank protector as Linny suggested - even if you get the scratches repaired - so why pay out for scratch repair if the tank protector will cover them? There are loads to choose from, not just like Linny's pic.

Clear would be best I think as he says it's a "unique colour". I just put that pic on as an example. They're easilly removed with a hairdryer if you decide to get the scratches fixed at a later date when you've got the dosh.
On hindsight, you should have got one before you started wearing the offending jacket.

Well the scratch repair guy never got back to me so will go with the tank protector after all. Thanks everyone
