Shot in the dark but you never know: I am looking for a cheap set of canvas panniers that just thro over/under the seat. Condition not important (but it would help if they are waterproofish) but price and the ability to collect and pay cash is (now unemployed) So idealy within about 50 miles of Oxford here`s hoping

Try ebay I suppose. Thats where I've got all my luggage from. Second hand but in very good nick. And very cheap also. Just search for items nearest to you.
Having to pay cash is going to limit your online shopping.

As a cheap alternative you could always get two army surplus haversacks (the old canvas ones) and run the straps to each other so you can throw them over the saddle. Not waterproof,, but you could treat them,, or reuse some shopping bags on soggy days.
Had a pair several years ago,,, paid about a tenner an lasted for ages considering.

You could always knock up a pair of hard panniers like these

Ally, some little scamp has broken your link, it's OK- I've fixed it
Hard PanniersBut to be honest- I think those will be a bit small, it's for a pushbike but the theory seems sound.

I hope there are some holes drilled in the bottom of them, can just imagine someone trying to cycle up a hill in the rain and it getting more and more difficult... Get to the top and discover their panniers are filled with water!
I also bet the aerodynamics of those at motorbike speeds are ummm interesting!

Cant be to bad Finn, GS owners have been queing up to pay waaaaaaay over the odds for this basic design for years now (cept they cover theirs with baco-foil to hide what they really are!)

I feel there is a comment to be made somewhere about GS's and motorbike speeds but i'll let it lie...

aaah, in case- carry on

There's a calling for decent luggage for the Suzuki GS too- apart from Givi, there's a bit of a shortage of racks and panniers available for the old GS500's.

Its all a bit imaterial now as I have just bought an ex police Honda CB 250 with all the top box panniers and fairing on so no longer need the soft luggage. Owing to unemployment this will be my steed now and the trusty Pan will shortly be appearing on an E-bay near you all.

It's got me thinking tho,,,, so i may have a 'furckle' with a few bits in the shed ( thats the UNofficial technical expression before you dirty minded lot start

) and see what i come up with for the hell of it.
Must get some pics of my homemade ground anchor before i sink it in concrete ( could moor the QE2 with that fecker) think it's a tadge overkill

Oxford panniers fit OK - at least they did on my 2000 model.

They are 'soft' throw over panniers, saddle bag style, in black heavy duty nylon/hessian material. They will need 2 bungees to secure to the bike. I'll try & get a pic & dimensions, I dont want much for them, just an offer + P&P.

The measurements are : Bag length: 37 cm, bag height 28cm, bag depth 17cm, bag to bag - seat part 35cm. They are made by Tran Am, logo says Mustang by Tran Am, as new only used 2 times.
