Hey,
As I was shopping for cold remedies and soup in tesco today I stopped by the bike magazines, as usual!
In Two Wheels Only they're doin a comparison between the hornet, sv650, fazer and a kawasaki (can't remember which), sounded like a good read!
Toyed with buying it, but then I may be even more tempted by the hornet, not good when i'm only gonna do my A2!
+ couldn't look at the article, cos it was in a plastic packet (with free winter inner gloves - bit late as cold weather's just dissapearing)!!

+ Ride are doing a comparison of naked road bikes, but seems a bit of a weird comparison with the bikes they've chosen! Is the hornet 6, Monster 1000 + 2 other big bikes (sorry crap memory) Hornet seemed to get a good write up tho (from what I could skim read in the shop!

anyways, worth a look if u're interested in those bikes!

The Kwak might have been the new Z750, in the same league as the fazer,sv & hornet.

It would have to be the Z750 for me. eyebrow.gif

What an amazing coincidence - it's as if the article was written specially for me!!! I'm planning to buy a bike to commute into London and these were the extact bikes I had short-listed. It makes a very interesting read.

I had decided on the new Fazer 600 but the article has completely changed my mind - they say it looks good but feels cheap to ride, the engine is peaky and the gearbox is clunky. They love the Z750 and they like the Hornet too. The SV650 comes last because it feels too sporty for a commuter bike and the engine is a bit lumpy at low speed (is this true?).

Ironically I think I now like the SV650S the best, even though it came last in the test. I want something semi-sporty and it looks really good value at £4K. You can also get a full fairing from Susuki.

Hi all and especially to Bedazzled. This is my first post and as I'm a Fazer owner it is my sworn duty to let you know that the Fazer is best amongst the shortlist mentioned.I ain't biased,I just happen to own one buttrock.gif

Ok,so if you were to buy one,it probably wouldn't be the new one because it looks kinda weird, but then again so did the original,so no change there then.
I'd recommend one like mine,a 99' model or maybe the 2000 one with a slightly bigger tank on it.

Pro's and con's are as follows..Pro's: great engine which is quite revvy too, comfy seat for at least 2 hours, easy handling which makes it drop into any corner at any speed almost without input from the rider, and stonking brakes just for those u- turning car moments!

Con's: Headlights on early models are weak, but can be modified.Fairing does suffer from extreem turbulence at anything over 70mph,so can be tiring on long distance trips.I've a flip up screen but notice hardly any difference. The only other thing worth mentioning is the much quoted "poor finish",but ain't that bad if you regularly clean and polish the alloy components.

Overall an excellent bike to own and run and with over 50,000 miles on my current model, has no trouble racking up the mileage.I've gone through about 3 chains and 8 sets of tyres, but still on the original clutch.

Blimey! Welcome Elk. buttrock.gif

Im thinking of putting an extra forum on Fazer ownership! Ive got a 98 model BTW. I have a skidmarx doobler boobler and it does seem to make a difference. Im six foot two and look a lot like Brad pitt and I find the boobler keeps the wind at forehead height instead of chest height as it was when i got the bike.

personally i feel the suspension is too soft and the bike is too playfull and responsive to slight throttle movements mid bend. Go round on a smooth throttle i spose! Bit of a pain having to change gear all the time but its a revvy beast and does whip along in a controllable but still exciting way. Ive seen 125 mph two up and so far there have been no surprises. I agree about the finish - its fine if you look after it.

Thanks for your reply Zombie.Yes I think you should start a separate forum just for us Fazer owners lbhh.gif

You're right too about the soft suspension, but even 2 up it isn't too bad.Plus I'd prefer soft over hard anyday, considering how fast the Fazer can change lines it would make the bike too skittish me thinks with a firmer set-up.
