EDIT : Never got the pipe of ebay, went up to almost what I was paying for the can.
So thinking just to save up for something new and found the Scorpion or Quill are all about the 200 mark.
Anyone recomend one over the other or have experience of any of these?
Cheers

The usual bodge is to just leave the old bulb indicators in some bit of empty space behind a fairing somewhere, Although you do that and I almost guarentee you will find yourself having to root around by feel outside in the pissing rate one dark night as your indicators are flashing like mad due to one of the original bupbs blowing!

I can just see me going nuts with wires hanging about the place and ratling around the fairing so may just stick to plain old flashers.
As for the can, I have been scouring ebay this morning for midpipes or alternatives. Seen mention of 57mm,64mm & 2" connections so will have to have a closed look at the can I have been offered to see if it is any use with these mid pipes.
Are cans designed for particular bikes anyway? i.e. are the specific to CBRs or even a 600?
If it is going to be a hassle would be better paying for a complete kit such as the Delkevic (anyone have one?) or a bit more an look to the likes of Quill.

URGENT :
Need to either give up this idea of buy the mid pipe of ebay in 24hrs. The Micron can I have was fitted to a CBR900 fireblade apparently.
Will this be suitable for a CBR600? (both can and ebay are 64mm so would fit but dont know if can would work on the CBR600 fx)
It is straight through as I can see from one end to the other, cant see any specific stamps or what have you which makes me think it is a race can but the guy selling it does not think that noise restrictions are such a big deal these days... also he would be the guy putting the bike through it's MOT so two birds and one stone n all that.
Would appreciate any pointers

Never used an aftermarket exhaust but AFAIK if the MOT tester is doing his job properly then it would fail the MOT for not being BSI stamped.
may mean in future you have to swap back to stock to get through the MOT.

I'm pretty sure an exhaust shouldn't need to be BSI stamped anymore- as long as it's not excessivly loud or hasn't got "Not for road use" (or similar) stamped on it.
If it's a straight-through, I'd be vary wary though... it's certainly possible that he;'s polished any "not for road use" etchings off.

The etchings on it are pretty deep sating Micron and some other 4 letter acronym I cant recall.. being straigth through likely to be a problem?
Anyone know if it will suit a 600 when it is meant for a 900, not sure I understand why you get different cans for different bikes when it seems to be the midpipe that is the specific part only.

You could stick a baked bean can on it if you wanted- it'd make a hell of a noise.
Not entirely a frivolous comment- point is, why not ask some of the industry bods that make aftermarket cans? No rush to remove the original, is there?

The only rush was if I should buy the cheap link pipe on ebay to use with this can...or save up for a bit and get something new
Have put a £10 bid on the mid pipe so if i get it will try and if it fails have not lost much, pretty sure I could tru the end can without having to buy it first.

If the MOT tester is doing is job properly he should pass the bike if it doesnt have "Not for road use" markings.
If there's no markings at all is up to the MOT tester to decide if it's too loud or not. That would mean him having exactly the same bike there with a standard exhaust so he can compare both. (don't think he will have)..
If it's BS stamped is a straight pass.
AlanK.. I have a Stubby scorpion on my blade... love the sound.
Also have a spare Yoshi can for the blade....great sound, more deep than the Scorpion, specially on higher revs...
here you can hear my Scorpion on idle...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZGpD2CTA0M...re=channel_pagehere you can hear it on full blast at a dyno

I had Scorpion on both my old CBR600 and my GSX-R600. If the SP2 hadn't got Blue Flame Evo's on already, I would have bought Scorpion again.
With regards to MOT regs, according to my local tester JP is right. My CBR had "Not for road use" on it, which the guy wasn't willing to test. It did however have an accident with some wire wool and lost, and half an hour later had an MOT certificate. I don't feel guilty about doing this, the guy in the queue before me had a Harley with standard pipes, and it was easily twice as loud as my bike. When he left I could hear him for ages.

Scorpion are made by Akropovic so always a good buy, watch out when its spelt Skorpion as this is a nasty rip off,
as for NFRU on your cans, never had a problem with that, just take your bike to where your local Backpatch club goes for MOT's,
it will probably get greeted with.." Remove that ya stupid better pick another word mate" but after that it will be ignored.

Dont think he needs the same bike, he can just use a judgement call if he wants, does he think it sounds louder than that bike should sound.

Now that is something that seriously pisses me off, why is it that cruisers dont seem to have to meet any noise regs whatsoever?

Well.. he shouldn’t really use is judgement should he? he cant possibly know the difference in noise of all the bikes in the market..
if they want to make it that way he should be provided with an accurate decibel meter and have a table with noise levels of each bike…
if not, it's almost the same as a cop not using a radar gun, stop you and say…"mmhh.. I reckon you were just 15mph over the speed limit"..

I had a Beowulf on my Z750 and it was a cracking exhaust. Made in England - and you buy direct from them. A very friendly firm to deal with. Absolutely perfect fit too - went on in 5 minutes.

Cheers folkds..
Scorpion seems to be the most popular so far tho also the most expensive. Have been offered the Quill for £200 (normally the same price as the Scorpion) but the Warrior is only 175.
Off to hunt down some more Scorpion suppliers..

i'm not saying its a good system, just that is my understanding of how it works, but seeing as I have only ever had stock exhausts so never had to find out first-hand I may be wrong.

Actually ALL recent exhausts should have an "E" mark if they're approved for road use.
The old not for road use cobblers has been superceded

Got it down to choosing between Scorpion or Quill (T3 or Evo2)
Cant see much in at at moment although think I may be able to get a Ti Scorpion for the same as and allu Quill (£200 on the nose)
Probably get one with a removable baffle so I can change the sound every so often but both road legal. just trying to hunt down any differentiating factors, so far only found a Monster800 was a bit jerky at slow speed with the Scorpion but I ride a 600 cbr....
Any other comments between these 2?
AlanK

Offered the Quill Evo 2 (removable baffle) for 195 delivered making it cheaper than the Scorpion and British made.
Should be here in 2-3 weeks

Ouch!
I would never give that kind of money for a can... what's wrong with good old ebay?
I got my blade Scorpion for 100quid... a Yoshimura can for the blade for 50.. and a Yoshimura off an R6, for the CB500.. for 40 quid...

The last few cans that would fit the CBR had all had some damage yet have reached 100 notes.
Sod paying that for something 2nd hand with unseen damage. Also very few for the fx so would need a link pipe on top.
That and I know my luck with 2nd hand stuff - I dont have a good track record lol

(too late now hehe)
