I had a go at painting my frame with enamel paint but itis not very tough as i can pick it off with my finger nail. I did paint it over the paint that was already on the frame after a sand down and in a garage in summer were it was warmish but not that hot. Would the paint harden now if i put it in a hot room for a bit or would i be better stripping it down to bare metal and painting it again in a warm room? How warm does it need to be? I would be very grateful for any advise that anyone can give me on this problem.

Thanks

I had thought about doing that but it is only a cb 250 rs and i could not justify the expense of getting it powdercoated as i want to do it as cheaply as possible thank you for your reply.

Homer , its going to cost you about £75 to get it coated PROPERLY-it will last for bloody years, but if you dont want to contribute to the deposit on my zx12r, then strip it down & use cellulose or acrylic aerosols-these are much more durable.

I have used enamel brush on engine paint in the past with good results, i rub down the frame as you have said, i then bush it on using a good amount on the brush and only brush in one direction, dont go over the same area more than twice as the paint will drag and look crap.

I then let it dry for about 24 hours and do it all again, this is no way as good as a powder coating but the engine enamel is prety tough and claims to be oil resistant.

You dont want it to be too warm as the paint will dry to quickly, but too cold and it will take ages to dry, fine balance, i did mine in the back garden in the summer.
