Tis just wot i thinks OK
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, so this is my view on speed traps and speeding. I accept that there is a problem with speed in some areas of town, and i also accept that there is a connection between speed and road deaths. But i don't agree with the amount of emphasis being put on the link between road accidents/deaths and speed, i have witnessed some well dodgy driving over the years, is this to do with speed?

Well some times dodgy driving may involve speed, but we have all heard the classic line " Sorry Mate i did not see you", is that because they were driving too fast ? Nope, it is because the majority of car drivers today are in another world when they drive, cars are quieter, stereos are louder and people think less of others and more of where they need to be, every one is in a hurry to get there.

Also most vehicles are more much more responsive these days so people's driving style has changed, more risks are taken, actions are taken later and later as people get more and more confident. It is my opinion, unfortunately, that a large majority of people on the road do not have the road awareness to be deemed as competent drivers, and this i feel is a much larger contributor to road accidents/deaths than that of speed.

So what is the answer ? Well apparently it is to sneak about with radar speed traps, erect Gatso's and fine the motorists of Britain to hell and back add more and more points and have the gaul to claim that it is for our safety not financial gain.

Perhaps more emphasis should be put on driver awareness, how, i don't know, but there are people employed to do that job, so maybe they should look into it more.

For the biker i would suggest that perhaps they could be cut a little slack on the loud exhaust issue, a louder bike is better to hear than a standard one, many standard bikes are quieter than a modern day car and stand less chance of being heard in the traffic.

Maybe the cost of processing all of the fines and court costs of the bikers that get caught for having a non standard number plate and exhaust system could be better spent on improving driver awareness and consideration on the road. Are these offending items really so terrible that they warrant all the police time and funding that goes into it?

And do motorcycle police have to under take grumpy training or does it come naturally, not all, but a good many motorcycle cops that i have encountered over the years have given me a really hard time... !

So that is it, rant over. If you have read this all the way through then i thank you, and commend your endurance. However i don't think i am to far off the mark... am i ?

Ace.

No mate i dont think you are. 41 in a 30 though, naughty.

lbhh.gif it was actualy my twin brother... honest....

I have no probs with it Zombie, rich actualy got done for it, but it took them 72 days to get the NIP to me, so with a little help from Ooga i contested it and after a lengthy pause they conceded. swivel.gif

Rich has now been done several times and has so many points that he is afraid to let go when he rides. He is not a loon, he is just plain unlucky, i probably ride quicker than him, although he is usualy rite behind me.

He has now sold his VN1500 and is looking at a Kwak GTR1000, he is planning to move to cornwall and wants sumut that will be a good motorway bike but wont cost the earth.

LOL Zombie.... got me going, i could not understand what was going on, thought i was going loopy mad1.gif

Nice one BG, i'll pass it on to my mate rich, we scoured the net today and there is nothing about. He has found one in bristol but it needs to registered as it is a jap import that hasnt been registered yet.

It will take 2 weeks to register as they have changed the registration rules and you now have to tax the bike on application, which means you have to first MOT the bike, then once registered you have to take the bike for inspection of the frame/engine no's.

Ace - a little while ago I fiddled with the word filter to annoy PLug - flash git keept going on about his new C50 mped with pedals so i rigged it to replace C50 mped with pedals with c50 moped with pedals! Well it seemed funny at the time!

- bugger! caught out by my own trick!

It should say that it replace x j r 1 3 0 0 with c50 with pedals etc.

Ahh i c.... well it got me too lbhh.gif

You are still the highest bidder on the beemer, i recon there might be some silent bidders though, 1567 views.

I should have set it up so that it finnishes when people are up though, it finnishes @ about 3am Sunday so i doubt that there will be a last minit rush on the price.

Already looking for a replacement bike, but i think i'll save a little more cash and get sumut well up together.

Looking at an FJ1200, £650 cosmeticaly chalanged, sounds like a bit of a nail but i have asked for more info. been offered a CB1000 big one for £1100 but i t will probably be gone before i get the dosh.

I would also consider another Beemer... have to wait and see i guess.
