Just completed a routine.... Ha ha... service on my bike. There isn't anything routine about changing the plugs on this bastard. The oil filter is sunk in to the engine so that the top is flush with the casing, how the hell are you supposed to get that out ?? Yeah I know, Yamaha will have a special tool at like a bagillion dollars. To get at the plugs its seat off, tank, airbox, little rubber flap, little rubber flap number 2. Then there are seperate ignition coils mounted on each plug cap. Get them off and you are faced wth a plug that is 8 inches down a hole. I know this all makes for a compact engine and remarkable performance but the guy who thought of this must get in bed every night and laugh his t*ts off. Did I enjoy the experience....YES. Will I do it again next time.....YES. I haven't done a service on my own bike since the days of my CB400/4. OH MY GOD.

laughcont.gif thats modern bikes for you M8, thankfully the zzr is not so technical, but its still a fart getting at the plugs, fairing cowl, lowers, tank, airbox, ram air all have to come off.thankfully the oil filter is flush, but dead easy to remove(you dont have to take the zorsts off for a start)
Spare a thought for the vfr owners out there-you just try taking plugs out of one of those babies wwww.gif

Yes.. although the rear two aren't so bad but for the front you have to unbolt the radiator..

I have a spark plug key that I'll made out of two joined together. There's only a small gap and I couldn't fit a full length one in. So I put on a small double ended spark plug key, them use another key which fits over it. Works a treat..

I have never taken a bike off mine to a bike shop or garage for a service ( except the company bikes had no choice ) but at the same time in over 30 yrs of owning bikes never done a service on a bike tho all my bikes was serviced at least every 3000 miles

Just a thought raised in this thread but if anyone needs or wouold like their thread title editing let me or dave know and we will do it for you. I occasionally edit them anyway to correct spelling and no-one seems to notice! ( for the record I DO let people know if ive edited their thread title).

Sometimes we all hit the wrong keys or generally mispell things ( im probably the worst offender!) and sometimes we all take things personally when they werent meant that way. Im sure Flossie was just having a laugh and it was certainly no worse than some of the mickey taking ive done on here!
nickr6
Mmmmmmmmmmm

Something is missing here but I just can't put my finger on it. swivel.gif swivel.gif

Zombie.

I agree with you 100% but every bit of banter comes with the fact that you have communicated or interacted with the recipient at some point and that there is always a smilie or some sign that it is done in jest. You don't jump on someone who you don't know from Adam and not leave a sign that it is a joke when you have only a few posts on the board. Just my view. bum.gif

Furry muff mate, furry muff.

So this Holly sh!t then, does that explain the stench in my living room at christmas - all these years ive been blaming the sprouts! swivel.gif wwww.gif

Hi Nick, nice one, good to see our newbies get such a warm welcome. Flossie is a personal friend of Ooga and mine and it has taken us ages to get her to join the forum, as far as i know this is the first forum that she has ever joined and she is not a big user of the internet.

Her pc is not wroking to well and she is not able to use the smilies at the moment, a problem i have suffered my self. But smilies are not obligatory and as far as how many posts she has ..... what has that to do with the price of fish.... she is a member and has the same rights as any other member as far as i know to interact with other forum members, gosh.. hope i have enough posts to say this eyebrow.gif .

I have had little interaction with you myself, a hazard of different time zones i guess, nor have you been very active lately, so flossie would have trouble in interacting with you as she does not get on too often herself.

I have read her post and i find it hard to see the offensive part, may be i missed some thing?

"Holly sh!t? Thats interesting, had it down as a plant myself. Can you litter train them and do the prickly bits tear the loo paper?"

Nope still cant see it, looks like a bit of inocent humor to me.

Sorry mate, nothing personal but a tad dramatic i think. rolleyes.gif

Right folks, let's draw a line under this and call an end to it. Hopefully, we're all a bit older and wiser for it.

This is the problem when things get out of hand on the net, you say something in jest and it gets taken the wrong way. If you react, its pretty hard to take things back and start again.

We're quite happy for people to question something that has been posted. That way things are cleared up and everybody is happy.

We don't want something like that smoldering away. Then what happens is that the first time that person says something. You jump on them in retaliation and we end up in WWIII.

You all should be the comments about me and the size of my arris... Then you'd have something to complain about.. verysad.gif
ZOMB!E
I AM complaining - THAT arris IS BANG OUT OF ORDER MATE! GET DOWN THE GYM AND SORT IT OUT! swivel.gif

if you lot go through the archived posts and see some fo the ............er..............'.disagreements ', ahem, between the venerable DP and myself you'd end thinking we hate each other.

Well we do.

What was my point again?

Nah, DP and I have had some coarris debates but neither of us takes it to heart and thats how it should and will be.
