Hi All,
a couple of silly questions
Q1 ..... what exactly is a rear set and what are they used for (I think they are something to do with pegs??)
Q2...... what is the point of lowering the rear? (I assume the suspension).

Rear sets are the riders footrests. They are usually aftermarket parts that are multi adjustable and allow the rider to tuck their feet up out of the way. they ususally include controls for the brake lever and gear lever on the respective sides.
Lowering the rear end i have no idea about mate other than for drag racing where the height of the rear and the relative sag of the suspernsion may absorb power thta may otherwise be applied to the road for straightline sprinting.! Lowering the front however produces quicker steering but increase 'twitchiness' as your are effectively changing the steering geometry in respects of rake angle and length from pivot to contact point or in simple terms the relationship geometrically speaking of the steering head and the bit of the ground where the front tyre makes contact.

Lowering the rear end i can only think is refering to the ride height of the rear. Some shorter riders have the eccentric adjusters on the rear spindel (the round bits located in the swing arm with the spindle that goes through the back wheel and the swing arm) set to the bottom setting thus lowering the ride height slightly.
However not all bikes use the eccentric ajustment, so this only explains some way that it could apply, it is also possible on many bikes to lower the rear ride height buy way of adjustment of the rear shock, some how.

There's no such thing as a silly question, just a question you don't know the answer to yet. A question can never be silly but the questioner can be extremely silly especially if they ask the same one three times.

Leave it as it is MM-you start farting about with the suspension & you turn a sweet handling bike into an effing nightmare-i have a 4 page article somewhere about suspension setting-static sag etc & it took me bloody days to sort my zzr when i 1st got it. rear sets are only any good on a race bike or if you desperatley need to move your feet back/up to clear the road everytime you lean the bike-something i wouldnt have thought a problem with the sv.

Listen to DP, if you start screwing around with that suspension height you will change the whole geometry of your bike and it could end up so sloppy or twitchy that it is no good to man nor beast. If you change your tyre make ie Dunlop to Pirelli you should (I didn't) drop the front end to compensate for the different tyre height and thus keep the same geometry. This is all the weird science of racing and not for the none RR bike. Just my 2p..

I wasn't plannint to add rear sets, just keep hearing about them and wondered exactly what they were...
only thing left now is going to a be a carbon can, and new black blue bits...nothing substansial.
