Never said as not really wanting to make this an advert for HG, but if you were thinking of going with the Ride review and buying the TCX boots then you could save yourself just over 50bucks which = more beer.gif

I'll stick with my Aldi boots, now 2 and a half and doing well - slight scuffing of toes when I crashed but otherwise fine - cost about £30!

Yeah I know they aint cheap but I bought the cheapest water proof ones HG had a year ago and fed up getting wet cold feet - think I am a GoreTex pimp now so going back there for gloves.

But seriously - I still reckon they are the same boot other than metal clips on the HG ones, just goes to show it is worth shopping around

My boots cost £10.

They're not bike boots, but will give good enough protection coming off the CG.

I will get some bike boots at some point but trousers are more of a priority.

i bought a new pair of boots, Chopper style, and i wore them shopping, cut the back of my legs to ribbons, been waiting more than a week for the thing to heal to i can try to break them in more gently...they look great though

I quite agree you really should wear trousers!! lbhh.gif

I'm in the boot market myself as I get damp patches when it really rains. Thats damp feet!

There is really a lot of choice so I'm spending a lot of time researching. hello.gif

Couple of months back I bought some by Puma (the people who do trainers).

They've been bloody brilliant; warm, dry & comfortable. Just have to see how they last now.

Just as long as they're not work boots with steel toecaps - I knew someone who had a prang and lost all his toes, horrendous but true.

For anyone whose boots are not waterproof I have only 2 words...

FREEZER BAGS!

I think I heard about this from you before I bought my boots a year ago as I remember checking they didn't have steel toe caps for this reason.

I might start wearing bags as theres a big hole in the bottom of my left foot from my centre stand.

Well, you see there's the rub - had I been wearing proper bike boots my leg wouldn't be in the mess it is grin.gif

sniffle.gif nod nod Faze - Jacket and jeans are secondary but proper boots and gloves are a must for me - now know too many people with bad damage from not having good footwear

I am wrong about the boots.

I'll get some in the next two months before christmas.

I'll see what fits in the shops (hoping they go up to size 13) and go from there.

I came off the DRZ a year or so ago at just over 20 mph, when I lost the fornt under braking on a slippy patch. It probably weighs about the same as the CG, give or take. Anyway, one of my Oxtar TCS boots has a nasty scar where it went down the road. Whenever I see people wearing flip-flops on a bike or scooter I think of that boot and hope they won't do the same - they'd lose their toes, simple as that.

Anyway, point is, whether you're riding a CG or a Fireblade, if you come off the road is still hard and hurts.

And are they?

Have to agree with Fazer, in fact not only should the boots be proper bike boots but they should be in good condition as well!
The accident that broke my leg badly was almost exactly the same as when I came off on ice a couple of years before, but that time I was wearing some almost new boots which fitted really well. The time I broke the leg I was wearing some old ones which should really have been thrown away as they were old and floppy and didn't fit tightly any more. Unfortunately they're the only ones I can wear now so it's just as well I'm on a trike now.
