Winters coming and due to me not having a job I have a lot of spare time on my hands.

I've been thinking about getting a bike to work on for a while and saw this on Ebay yesterday.

Its less than 10miles from me.

What do you lot think about it?

Anyone had any experience with these bikes? Are they easy to work on.

I've looked on ebay and spares don't seem to be a problem.

Thanks in advance, Phil.

If it is as easy as the YB100 then it will be a piece of cake and good fun. I almost regret getting rid of mine (but needed the space for another project so cannot have it all ways)

I had one of these to run around on when i passed my cbt untill i got my das. I had loads of fun on it, i even used it to go from my place to Shrewsbury and back once a week, 110 miles each way, took anywhere between 2-3 hours to get there, lots of Welsh hills in the way lbhh.gif

I had loads of spares when needed from Ebay, loads of choice as you know, and it was a pleasure to work on compared to some of the bigger bikes i've worked on since! Biggest drawback i found on the bike was the brakes, sometimes it was just as quick to put your feet down lbhh.gif

Good luck grin.gif

I rode an RXS for about 3½ years when I first started and yes, they are a load of fun to ride! You know it's a 2-stroke don't you?

There are usually a fair few spares on Ebay except for the exhaust - about the only place to get one is from Nikkon Exhausts at £175 - and it's not the standard 'stret' type but more like an off-road exhaust, I shall be getting one for my RXS which is in the shed awaiting rebuilding - it needs so much doing that it should be scrapped really but it was so much fun I just have to put it back on the road!

Just noticed it's ended - did you buy it?

I'm just working on one of these with my daughter who wants it to learn and practise riding. Spares seem pretty plentiful and cheap on ebay. It's a 2 stroke so fairly simple on the mechanicals. Good luck. grin.gif

No didn't get it in the end.

Set my bidding limit to £130 and it went at £160. But I get paid this week so I'm looking for something else.

In heinsight I wish I'd gone for it as I can't really find a lot else atm.

They're both posibilites.

Opinions on both?

The Suzi is a lot younger but has more miles on it. The Honda is taxed and tested for about 10 months!

I'd go for the Honda but I'm biased - I love 'em! The seat could be easily sorted with a new cover about £20.

Looking closely at the Suzuki, it really looks very very tatty for its age. The rust marks would suggest its been left exposed for a very long time. The fork sliders look like they need a rechrome, the carbs and airbox seem to have been replaced by a plastic bag (?), and none of the foot controls are present. This would suggest that the bikes been taken to pieces before. The engine may have a cylinder head gasket leak but that could be the light. Eeek that one would have to be real real cheap for me to touch it with a bargepole. If your in for a lot of work and you can get it for pennies then its a very reserved maybe.
The Wetdream by comparison looks pretty good. Never thought Id say that about one of them. blush21.gif

Yeah I do love the look of them.

It would be an easy fix as well. I'll ask about going to view it and see what happens.

As for the Suzuki we'll see.

I'm also winning some cheap import bike at 99p atm haha. My max bid is £100 with 6days left. We'll see what happens with it.

The superdream looks like a bit of a bargain

Going to see the superdream tonight, so we'll see smile1.gif

Well it seems like a OK bike. Bit of tlc needed here and there. Nice bloke. Not too sure what I'm gunna do. I'll see what happens with the bidding.

Go for the Superdream! They are dead easy to work on and there are tons of cheapish spares to be had. The 400 is said to be a very nice bike, the 250 is underpowered - but I love em anyway.
