I would like to see at least half of them removed Ffs, on the A420 from Oxford to Faringdon you really cannot travel a distance of 200 Yds without a road sign. I also notice that both the very, very slight bends at the end of long straights have to have a plethora of signs with a square yellow backing, that wouldnt have been in an attempt to disguise the fixed revenue machines at all would it! The road signs now are all fiercely reflective as well so with the number of them it makes a foggy night a nightmare. Why do they have to cater for the myopic minority to the detrement of the countryside and the irritation of those of us who can not only see but have also bothered to learn to read the road..........Rant over

What do you want to see

LESS!

There are so many road signs now they've become like wallpaper - you just don't see them all! And if you concentrated on all the signs you wouldn't be looking at the road, that can hardly be a good thing can it?

what would i like to see?

road signs which dont confuse people

road signs that dont blind you at night (see biker post)

LESS of them

Less signs and less complicated signs. The one that article illustrates would be ausing accidents while people stare at it trying to read it! veryangry.gif

Would love to see the graphic representation of that. And I was hoping to see some drawings of what riders would like lbhh.gif

i want to see more of the "this sign is not in use" signs. They amuse me to no end and liven up any tedious motorway journey.

Less is definitely a good shout. There's a residential area for the elderly near where I live, which is a good half a mile from the nearest road. On said nearest road there are THREE signs, showing elderly people near by. It's not as if they wander aimless around and into the road like cattle.

There's also a stretch of the A30 as you get deeper into Kernow, which goes from a dual carriage way into a single carriageway. It's a notorious bottle neck and anyone who drives/rides it regularly knows to avoid it on a Friday/Saturday in the summer (changeover day). The highways agency have very thoughfully added a mobile sign which reads 'Delays Ahead'. This is conveniently placed about 2 miles after the tailbacks normally start, cheerfully reminding you about the jam you're already sat in. rolleyes.gif

(Unless you're on a bike, which I usually am grin.gif ).

I agree, the fire station sign would be useful grin.gif
