Ok ... so here is an update on the story,

The beemer has been looking very sad and and the CB900 isnt very well after we did a charity run on sunday it sounded like a bag of marbles (not sure if it is cam chain or carb balanceing) so i decided to have a bash at gettin the beemer running.

Firstly i decided to take some advice...rang a man... a verry nice man... ooohhh such a nice man... ehem.. and asked him if it was nesesary to remove the engine from the frame to relpace the starter clutch, he asked if i had tryed flushing it with engine flush yet? Ahhh .. no... try it he said, the starter cluch in the K100 has a known problem of getting caked up and sticking, we flush the engine and often cure the problem.

So off to the local motorman store i went and bought some engine flushing oil type stuff. in order to flush the engine corectly i had to get the engine up to tempreture so i had to get it runing, no probs i thought i'll bump start it, just to find that the clutch cable had snapped whilst sitting on my drive ... veryangry.gif

So off to BMW for a clutch cable, £14 later and a new cable fitted i enlisted some help and we set about trying to bump start the bike... nothing..... ooopps... for got to reconect the fuel pump after taking off the tank to fit the cable. By now we were knackered so i got my car, srapped a tow rope around the forks and proceeded to tow start the bike, dodgey but efective as it started after only a few feet in 2nd gear.

I left the bike running (with the u-lock on) and went for a cupa. i then after about 20 mins i turned of the bike and tried the starter and hey presto it worked, so i dumped the oil and filled it with the engine flush. I have now ran the bike for about 30 mins with the engine flush but i ran out of time so tomorow i'll run it for a while longer then put some nice new oil in and a fillter and keep my fingers crossed. fcrossed.gif

I've never used that engine flush stuff.

I take it you use this instead of oil and let it tick over for a set time. ooh2.gif How long is it supposed to run for?

It says to run it for about 20 mins, but as i am trying to remedy a specific problem i have decided to do it for a lot longer... i live in a town called hope!

I have never used it before but i know a few people that have, i am not sure it it has any real value unless you have a problem but it cant hurt to clean out the inside of your engine from time to time, espscialy if you run an older vehicle.

Dunno as I'd do it for any longer than they say tho, cos it won't have the same lubricating properties as oil - since it's designed to clean up rather than stick...

Ah well, it dint work any way, the starter cluch is still playing up, i have the bike in the local paper tomorow (sunday) it was brought as a winter hack not a money pit.

When i sell i will buy sumut that works proper like, save all the stress. That will please Oogachuka...

I got some engine flush for my cage, as its had 18 months without an oil change...major component of the engine flush is diesel and paraffin

Also found with the cage after 2 days with no battery all my running problems have gone!! must have reset the engine management unit!!
