Full Version: I've decided..

After much soul-searching I've decided to let my local trike builder take Gertie and turn her into a three wheeled vehicle. I've seen some of his work now and I'm impressed. Other folks are obviously impressed too cos he's given up the day job and is now doing it full-time.

The disadvantage to me is that he can't start until the end of Feb when he moves to his new workshop, and since he reckons the entire job, inluding getting SVA and registration, will take 6 weeks - I won't be on the road until the middle of April. But he says mine will be the first one he does as soon as he's moved.

There are several reasons for my decision - tbh the first is that no-one wants to buy Gertie! Also it's sensible to use a bike I know and can trust, I know what work's been done and what needs doing, and she's shaft drive therefore ideal for the purpose. I was - and still am to some extent - afraid that I would always wish she was still a bike, but folks I've spoken to say that you get over that feeling quite quickly. Another thing is that having a trike built for me I can specify what I want - and Bruce is going to give me a foot clutch (to save my arthritic hand!) and a hand gear change (to allow for any loss of movement in my ankle). And then if I need anything modified later he'll do that as well.

Now I need to speak to someone about getting the SuperDream back on the road, and it''ll soon be spring, and the leg will soon be better, and I can't wait to get out there again!

Likewise here we can do alink if he's got a website. If he hasnt got one tell him to get one! Course if he fancies joining up he'd be made most welcome.
GING
Let me know if you need any parts for the dream, uncle has a couple bikes lying around in bits

Thanks Ging - so have I actually!

One whole bike needing some attention. Another frame and wheels and two engines in bits in filing cabinets!

But if I need any bits I haven't got I'll remember to give you a shout. The bike may need a camchain but I think the main problem is that I knackered the thread on the camchain adjuster - that's where the spare bits of engine will come in handy!
I had planned to work on it myself but I can't do it yet and I want the bike sorted for when I'm ready to ride again, but I know a man who can...

Womble and Zombie - Bruce is not much of a computer man, in fact he tells me his hasn't been working for months - can you imagine life without one?
But you're right, if he's in business he ought to have a website. Heck, everyone ought to have one - but I haven't either - we don't all have the know-how!
Anyway I'll wait and see whether I recommend him before you all start advertising on his behalf!
