The disadvantage to me is that he can't start until the end of Feb when he moves to his new workshop, and since he reckons the entire job, inluding getting SVA and registration, will take 6 weeks - I won't be on the road until the middle of April. But he says mine will be the first one he does as soon as he's moved.
There are several reasons for my decision - tbh the first is that no-one wants to buy Gertie! Also it's sensible to use a bike I know and can trust, I know what work's been done and what needs doing, and she's shaft drive therefore ideal for the purpose. I was - and still am to some extent - afraid that I would always wish she was still a bike, but folks I've spoken to say that you get over that feeling quite quickly. Another thing is that having a trike built for me I can specify what I want - and Bruce is going to give me a foot clutch (to save my arthritic hand!) and a hand gear change (to allow for any loss of movement in my ankle). And then if I need anything modified later he'll do that as well.
Now I need to speak to someone about getting the SuperDream back on the road, and it''ll soon be spring, and the leg will soon be better, and I can't wait to get out there again!
