I have Dianese stuff - DDry jacket and Goretex pants (Rock Jeans)

out last night in the rain (and getting more comfortable doing so again grin.gif) and when I got home noticed although the jacket seemed fine I felt a bit damp on the bottom half.

Not wet as such but certainly felt clamy/damp.

Thinking about going back to the shop this afternoon with the pants as only a month old. I appreciate there is the understanding that waterproofs cant always be expected to be 100% and no doubt this is what they will say I have the counter arguement than in this case the jacket, a lesser material, seemed to be fine but the pants were not.

Is this normal though or anyone else find pants a bit damp?

you have to remember that your sittin in the rain water that runs off your jacket, so your arris will feel damp Alan lbhh.gif
Finn
you sure it was leakage and not just your sweat?

AlanK
not sweat (it was freezing) but fair point re sitting in a puddle of water.

tho you notice it on the top of my legs first - kinda figured you would notice it on shoulders/arms aswell if jacket was the same.
Billy M
i would have thought most of the water would be blown off the jacket as it in more air blast then the tops of your legs...

True

Just been into the shop anyway and they will happil send them away for assessment but suggested I leave it for a few months till not using the bike all the time as it would be a few weeks. Because of that and the fact that i am not 100% sure they are letting in wetness rather than some moisture or why gonna leave it for now.

Oh - and I just stood in the shower with them on blasting them with hot water - yes I am that odd eyebrow.gif

Again - moist but not wet as such - so short of rubber pants from my gimp outfit looks like its a put up or shut up.

Alan

ps. I dont really have a gimp outfit

I lent it to someone eekout.gif

give them a spray over with Nik wax and use some tent wax to go over the seams...this is for your textiles and not your gimp suit you understand.. lbhh.gif

if they are gortex it will be condensation on the inside, we have this issue a lot at the shop people complaining theirs jackets are leaking when theyre perfectly ok.

gortex is a 'wet system' meaning that both surfaces have to be wet/damp for it work and breathe efectivly

So much for the claims that gore-tex "keeps you dry".

The only real problem I have with my waterproof textiles is the bit at the front where there's a gap in the zips. When it's raining hard the rain tends to creep up under the jacket looking like I've peed myself standing on my head sad1.gif
Oh aye, and the pockets fill up.
