I've spent quite a bit of time on e-bay today for some reason and there are quite a few BSAs available on there. Most seem to be in much better condition than this one having either been restored already or been looked after properly and some fetch some serious money. Not sure this one is worth £1600 right now though.

This one looks reasonable though, know anything about this model EB?

How proper bikes used to sound.

EB keep the info flowing on the restoration as I may need to pick your brains shortly. eyebrow.gif

Well as it seems no-one is going to ask I suppose I'd better tell you why I may be picking EB's brains. In a moment of madness I will probably regret I bought this at the weekend. Should be in my possession by the weekend after next.

Well done Ian, buttrock.gif

It looks good. Did you notice that the other bike eventually went for £1900. ooh2.gif

You are this months dark horse ian. bike looks good in the photo, does it need anything doing to it? EB's got some nice old bikes tucked away he'll steer you right. FWIW the best bike noise ever i heard comes from his old 500 single bsa cafe racer thing ( goldstar? Shooting star?)

ARRRGHHH just DONT park it anywhere near your proper bike, & ffs remember the gearchange is on the OPPOSITE side from the brake, do the words money pit mean anything to you?
why oh why couldnt you have got a proper classic like a four hundred four or something similar-perhaps even a KH 250/400/750
sheesh!
if god had wanted us to ride stuff like that he wouldnt have engineered in the oil leaks!
devilpaint
course if it needs a paint job....... laughcont.gif

But the gearchange is on the opposite side to the brake on all bikes I've owned just this one is on the other opposite side.

It will only become a money pit if I decide it should and then it'll be from enthusiasm not necessity. Only thing that looks like it could do with is a bit of a clean and polish and the front mudguard is slightly dented. I'll be able to get a proper look when I get it home.

To me its just a bit of fun, something to have a play with that isn't too full of technowizardry to go wrong, something I can tinker with without worrying about losing the warranty. If I lose some money on it then that's no different to any bike I've owned. If it leaves me stranded somewhere then I call the AA. If it blows up there are other enthusiasts that will take it and put it back together or I could break it and sell the parts.
