Full Version: What makes a street fighter?

Hi All,

I keep hearing the term, and I thnk I know what one looks like, but what exactly is a streetfighter bike???

MM
Ace
Streetfighter:
Twin headlights/spot lights
Renthal/straight bars
no fairing

The Streetfighter derived from when people started falling off sports bikes in the eighties when they first came out. The cost of repairing thier machines was too much so they would do what ever had to be done to get the bike back on the road.
That usualy ment straight bars to replace the bent clipons, removal of the damaged fairing, twin spot lights as the origional light is usualy fixed in the fairing, and some after market indicators.

This look actualy caught on and people started to buy damaged sports bikes to build streetfighter projects.

Now anything with twin lights, straight bars etc gets the tag of streetfighter, hence Streetfighter Style.

Is there an opening here for a write up on the diferent styles of bike ie: Chop, Streetfighter, Flat tracker, funny bike, Rat etc.

I fancy having a go but only if there is enough intrest. I am no expert but hey... i'd give it a go.

I tell you Ace, this site is what you make it mate - well not YOU specifically but all of us members. you write a piece mate and it will be well recieved - dont worry about trying to be flash just wirte about something like this that interests you. If youve got pictures too youll be a shining star!

go for it mate, nice one.

If you want you can post it straight up or you can 'word' it and email it to the big man. If you got pics then you can simply email them too and Davie boy will sort the sizing and everything. Hell even make a cup of tea in your honour and drink it in the rain ( he lives in scotland where its black and white and raining all the time).
I for one will look forward to reading it.

Whoops for got to answer the question. Its a bloke who maybe used to box a bit but now fights gypsies for cash in the back of an artic trailer in a car park on an industrial estate off the leagrave road in luton.

Hope this helps.

yeah, i'd be interested in that too!!!

I like streetfighters, but didn't really know what defined them, thought it was just naked, with added on extras like exhausts, flat bars, twin spots, belly pans....
.... wherever imagination takes people....

and generally they're ongoing projects, adding extra parts as more ideas develop, more money comes in, you find the parts that MUST go on the bike, get bored with current styling, etc. etc.

and certainly now there are many bikes that are already styled that way, take bandits for instance, because of the growing popularity of this style.

and.......

according to Streetfighter magazine, they normally have naked women sprawled all over them.........

I would have said that a bandit is a streetbike, not the same as a streetfighter - but I've seen some great streetfightered Bandits!
