When I go start up the C50 mped with pedals the damn clutch is all ways stuck tight.

When I engage gear the bike lurches fowards until the clutch free's off as I have to keep the rear brake on hard until it free's.

It only doe's it on start up when its been stood for a while, its got semi synthetic oil in and Im wondering if its not right for the bike altho it is recomended.

This action cannot be doing thing like rear chain and cush rubbers and brakes any good continuously jerking on start up.

Any Idea's as I think Ive tried most but not an oil change to mineral oil?.

I see Im still stuck with the moped insertion then? ermmmm I wonder ?my son?

You could be right FF, but Im a little on the edgey side changing over as they do recomend semi.

I did run the BMW on mineral oil with no probs but Im not sure as Im sure I read that semi is best long term as Im not getting another bike after this one eyebrow.gif but then again..

Ang on a bit, are we talking a real C50 here or is it a code name for the Flying Banana?

I'd be surprised if a C50 actually needs semi-synth, they never had that stuff in my day blah blah blah..... Unless it's been re-designed in the last millenia, the clutch mech on those is a little primative so correct adjustment is pretty vital, but if memory serves they always used to lurch a bit even in the days of Castrolite.

I've always run the ArrEff on 'car' 10/40 and it sometimes stands for a couple of weeks or more. Crack it up, let it warm for a couple of minutes while pushing the choke half-way home, then into gear and off we go. No clangs, no lurching and definitely no stalling. But then it's a Suzuki lbhh.gif

If it's the Banana then warm it up on the stand, snick it into first and gently apply the back brake to free the clutch off before you rock it off the stand.

You wern't reading it properly was you o'l mate.
It appears when I put XJR 1300 it changes to..... WHOOOOPS it did HONEST to C50,but some kind gent has changed it back bowdown.gif KIND SIR.

Right then M8 I have done many times what you have suggested BUT it still jumps forward and then the clutch free's off and then its ok all day until it left over night especialyin the cold.

Thats why Im thinking it does'nt like semi oil, altho its recommended, I know whats happening but Im lost for an answer to solving it.

Ooooooo, the little tinkers who play about with the internet eh? swivel.gif

Right, gotchya. What can I say? Being a tight git I run mine on car oil, and it hardly ever sees the other side of 6000 rpm anyway. I've heard loads of cases of synth and semi-synth making clutches sticky, I think the GSX's are particularly prone to it.

The decision is yours mate really. Put up with it or give it a sump full of ordinary oil and see if that makes it better. If it doesn't, you might as well go back to semi if it makes you happier. If it does, just change it more often and don't do any track days lbhh.gif

My vfr does this. When it starts up, I usually let it warm a bit, then give it a quicl blip with the clutch out. another blip with the clutch in, then repeat. I don't give it a handful, just a little blip. This seems to fix it.

Dave Ive tried your method many times and it still doe's it so as Fastfitter says better try mineral oil and see its about my ownly option left I think.
